Though it is the shortest month of the year, it is a busy one at Performance Network. For starters, the second slot in the 2014­2015 season, the powerful yet heartwarming 'Yellowman,' will close February 15 after rave reviews from critics and patrons alike. On February 17, the free class demonstration that was originally scheduled for February 2, will take place at 7:30pm. The Wednesday Night Concert Series, now known as the Open Table Series, will have two readings on February 11 and 25, and then on February 18, the Arts Alliance will present a Creative Connections event at the Network from 5pm to 7pm featuring the Ann Arbor Film Festival.

The Wednesday Night Concert Series at Performance Network continues with three free readings on February 4, February 11 and February 25 each at 7:30pm. On the 4th, patrons will enjoy a musically heightened table reading of Dan Bilich's new work "7.4 ­ The Ballad of Mrs. Maloney." On the 11th, there will be a reading of "Gidion's Knot" by Johnna Adams, and on the 25th, it will be "The Most Dangerous Highway In The World" by Kevin Artigue. Each reading is free to the public and there will be a talkback after each performance. The Wednesday Night Concert Series offers concert readings of plays and musicals, including new works, in an intimate setting. The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, will produce six new plays in staged reading format at its National Showcase of New Plays, hosted this weekend, November 21-23 in Sarasota, FL by Florida Studio Theatre. A committee of artistic, managing and literary leaders from across the country selected plays by Kevin Artigue, Hilary Bettis, Kristiana Colon, Mfoniso Udofia, and Steve Yockey for the twelfth installment of the Showcase.

Now in its fifth cycle, the Emerging Writers Group is an ongoing initiative that targets playwrights at the earliest stages in their career, creating an artistic home, and offering support and resources for a diverse group of up-and-coming playwrights.
