Ken Barnett, Susan Bott & More Star in AND BABY MAKES SEVEN at New Ohio Theater, Now thru 4/12

New Ohio Theatre Artistic Director Robert Lyons in association with Purpleman Theater have announced casting for Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel's And Baby Makes Seven. Marc Stuart Weitz will direct ensemble including Ken Barnett (Wonderful Town, Julie Taymor's The Green Bird) as Peter, Susan Bott (Julie Kramer's The Best of Everything) as Ruth and Constance Zaytoun (Moby Pomerance's Broken Hands) as Anna. And Baby Makes Seven is an uproarious and timely comedy that has not been seen professionally in New York in 20 years. Performances will take place today, March 11-April 12 at the New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street, between Washington and Greenwich Streets). Critics are welcome as of March 19 for an opening of March 23.

Pioneer Theatre Company Artistic Director Karen Azenberg and Managing Director Chris Lino announce a new play reading series for the University of Utah-based professional theatre company in Salt Lake City. Titled 'Play-By-Play,' the series will provide developmental rehearsal periods for three new plays, beginning on February 28, 2014, with the playwright working alongside a professional director and cast for a week-long residency, culminating in three public readings of each play available to theatregoers at a very modest cost. Pioneer Theatre Company has also just announced its lineup of all-female directors for the project.

New Georges Announces THE AUDREY RESIDENCIES for 2013-14

At a benefit event held for New Georges on Sunday, September 22, Producing Artistic Director Susan Bernfield and board member Michael Osso announced a new program at New Georges, The Audrey Residencies, and the artists and projects chosen for 2013-14, the program's inaugural year. Sunday's event also featured the premiere showing of a video about New Georges produced by tdf for tdfSTAGES' Meet the Theatre series and directed by Mark Blankenship, tdf's online content editor, to be released in early November.

It is adapted and directed by Julie Kramer, and developed with actor and writer Amy Wilson. Two additional performances -- Monday, Oct. 15 at 8:30pm & Saturday, Oct. 20 at 4pm -- have been added to the performances schedule at HERE.

The one-night-only performance series begins June 18, 2009, continuing through August 4, 2009 at Soho Playhouse (15 Vandam Street). A special benefit performance of Spalding Gray: Stories Left To Tell is scheduled for July 16, 2009 with proceeds going to the Spalding Gray Scholarship Fund. All performances begin at 8:00 p.m. Immediately following each performance there will be a brief reception with the artist in the Huron Club, located inside the Soho Playhouse.

New Georges' world premiere production of Wendy Weiner's 'Hillary: A Modern Greek Tragedy With a (Somewhat) Happy Ending,' directed by Julie Kramer will end its run, as scheduled, this Saturday, December 20. Mia Barron and Darren Pettie head up the eight-member cast as Hillary and Bill Clinton. Also featured are: Heidi Armbruster, Victoire Charles, Jorge Cordova, Charlie Hudson, III, Jenny Mercein, and Josie Whittlesey.
