Shakespeare Theatre Company announced today that Tony Award winner Michael McGrath has joined the world premiere cast of the new musical ONCE UPON A ONE MORE TIME, as Narrator.

The Shakespeare Theatre Company has just announced casting for the world premiere of the Broadway-bound musical ONCE UPON A ONE MORE TIME November 30-January 2 at Sidney Harman Hall. The show will star Briga Heelan and Justin Guarini as Cinderella and Prince Charming, alongside John Glover as Narrator, Tony nominee Emily Skinner as Stepmother, Brooke Dillman as The O.F.G, Aisha Jackson as Snow White, and MiMi Scardulla and Tess Soltau as Stepsisters Belinda and Betany. Glover replaces Simon Callow in the role.

Tank and The Bangas are Tarriona “Tank” Ball (frontwoman, lead vocals), Albert Allenback (alto saxophone, flute), Joshua Johnson (drums) and Norman Spence (keys).

The EP follows the release of the New Orleans-based band’s major label debut, Green Balloon, which arrived in 2019 to widespread critical praise.

Carnegie Hall today announced that pianist, vocalist, and television personality Jon Batiste and breakout New Orleans-based R&B and hip-hop group Tank and The Bangas will join Diaspora Songs on Friday, December 6 at 8:00 p.m., for a one-night-only multimedia performance in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage.

Breakout New Orleans-based five-piece Tank and The Bangas make their “Austin City Limits” debut on November 18. The taped broadcast episode will air on PBS early next year as part of ACL's Season 45. The performance will feature songs off the band's new album Green Balloon, which is out now on Verve Forecast to widespread critical praise.

Daveed Diggs and Wyatt Russell have joined Showtime's limited series drama set in pre-Civil War America, Good Lord Bird, according to The Hollywood Reporter. They join a cast that includes Ethan Hawke and Joshua Johnson-Lionel.

Breakout New Orleans-based five-piece Tank and The Bangas will continue to take their lauded live show on the road this fall with stops including New York's Apollo Theater, Los Angeles' The Fonda Theatre, Chicago's Metro and Boston's Royale as well as performances at Afropunk, Newport Jazz Festival and Emerge Fest. There is a definite relationship between rap and jazz. Musicians improvise with notes. Rappers improvise with words. Many of the great hip-hop recordings featured samples from some of the greatest jazz albums. So it should be no surprise that there are rappers who are not only comfortable in post-bop sonic settings, but can also deliver some swinging verses themselves. The result of this fusion of styles, motifs, and genres is a corps of instrumentalists who are influenced by rappers, who in turn, are influenced by musicians.

Theatre of Arts has announced its production of The Shape of Things by Neil LaBute, set to run eight performances only from March 14 28. Directed by David Conolly, the cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Shalom DeSota, Hallie Gibb, Joshua Johnson, Vincent Mordente, Josephine Parks, and Gerald Waters.
