Westport Country Playhouse will present "Pinkalicious, the Musical," based on the bestselling book from Victoria and Elizabeth Kann, as part of its Family Festivities Series for three performances on Sunday, March 11, at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 4 p.m. Produced by Vital Theatre Company, the one-hour production is appropriate for ages 2 through 7.  Tickets are $20. Audience members are invited to dress as their favorite "Pinkalicious" character.

Yo, ho! Yo, ho! A pirate's life for Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC), recent recipient of three 2017 Helen Hayes Awards. ATMTC brings to the stage its delightfully silly, swashbuckling fall musical, How I Became A Pirate, directed by Jenny Male.  Based on the Irma Black Award Winning book for Excellence in Children's Literature by Melinda Long with illustrations by Caldecott Honor-winning David Shannon, this tale of Jeremy Jacobs' high seas adventure is recommended for all ages and opens September 22, 2017. Yesterday, high school theatre students and instructors across metropolitan Kansas City and in neighboring communities received the good news that they had received nominations for the 15th Anniversary Blue Star Awards from Starlight Theatre. Starlight leaders, staff and board members personally delivered 132 nominations to 42 area high schools. On Thursday night, May 25, winners of the 2017 Blue Star Awards will receive their honors in a public ceremony on Starlight Theatre's Cohen Community Stage.
