Interview with Rebecca Hall
by Roundabout Theatre Company - Dec 17, 2013

Rebecca Hall: I was born and educated in the UK and went to university to study English Literature at Cambridge. The question of whether my family influenced my choice of career is a bit which came first, the chicken or the egg? Of course they have shaped who I am-there isn't a parent who doesn't! However, they never encouraged me to do anything that wasn't what I wanted.

Interview with Lyndsey Turner, Director
by Roundabout Theatre Company - Dec 13, 2013

Ted Sod: Why did you choose to direct Machinal? Lyndsey Turner: I first read Machinal when I was at university: I was struck by the boldness of the writing, the way Treadwell follows, with brutal inexorable logic, the journey of an unremarkable woman through a series of encounters which lead her to commit a remarkable act. The play is a brilliant account of the impact of mechanization and industrialization on American society, as well a forensic and unflinching portrait of a young woman in crisis.

London-based Punchdrunk-best known in New York as the creators of Sleep No More-just opened its first venture into restaurants with The Heath at The McKittrick Hotel (542 W 27th Street, New York, NY), one of New York's most unique nightlife and entertainment destinations. In collaboration with EMURSIVE (Jonathan Hochwald, Arthur Karpati, and Randy Weiner) and Chef R.L. King, Punchdrunk has crafted a dining experience in the spirit of Sleep No More to compliment Chef King's menu, which is a modern take on classic American and British fare. Those dining at The Heath can therefore expect hearty cuisine with an ambiance-both on the plate and in the room-as only Punchdrunk could imagine. BWW Reviews: SHNSF's PETER AND THE STARCATCHER Enchants Now thru December 1
by Linda Hodges - Nov 10, 2013

Swashbuckling adventure and hilarious hijinks await patrons of SHNSF's Curran Theatre with 5-time Tony Award winning Peter and the Star Catcher, which has sailed into San Francisco for a magical turn before returning to Neverland or other parts unknown. This clever prequel to J.M. Barrie's beloved Peter and Wendy is powered by starstuff (which figures prominently in the play) and a high-energy cast that is the tightest ensemble I've seen in a long time. Good, old-fashioned storytelling, reliance on late, 19th century stagecraft -- and two directors (Roger Rees and Alex Timbers) whose imaginations were allowed to run amok -- have created a wildly enjoyable and enchanting show. Playing now through December 1, Peter and the Star Catcher is one show you will definitely want to see.
