James V. Hatch, Archivist of Black Theater, Has Passed Away at 91

The New York Times has reported that James V. Hatch, a historian of black theater passed away on Feb 14. Hatch, with his wife Camille Billops, created a large archive of interviews with black actors, singers, writers and artists.

The Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival is excited to announce that New York City-based drag performer Yuhua Hamasaki (RuPaul's Drag Race) and actor James Yaegashi (Marvel's Runaways) will star in the Festival's one-time-only staged reading of Yukio Mishima's camp classic The Black Lizard at Provincetown Town Hall (260 Commercial Street) on September 29.

The Alley Theatre and Interim Artistic Director James Black, announce the cast and crew of the 2018-19 Season finale production of Ken Ludwig's The Three Musketeers, adapted from the novel by Alexandre Dumas. Mark Shanahan (Alley's Holmes and Watson, The 39 Steps) returns to direct a cast of 14, which includes Alley Resident Acting Company members, Alley favorites, and artists making their Alley debut. 'Bring it On' meets 'Dreamgirls' in the girl-group musical, 'Betty and the Belrays' by William Electric Black aka Ian Ellis James, which will be presented by Theater for the New City January 31 to February 17. The piece tells the story of three white female singers from Detroit who struggle to change a racially divided society by singing for a black record label. Book and lyrics are by William Electric Black. Music is by Black, Valerie Ghent (arranger/keyboards for Ashford & Simpson) and Gary Schreiner. Choreography is by Jeremy Lardieri. Stage On Stage Series Continues With 2 Shows In February

The State Theatre continues its music series, Stage on Stage, where the bands and fans share the stage. The series returns with two shows in February featuring six bands in total. The State Theatre main stage will be transformed into a "club" atmosphere, with the band and the audience both on stage. Cash bar will also be available on stage.
