Building on the success of the National Theatre Collection, with 71% of UK state secondary schools now signed up to access this digital resource, an additional 10 theatre productions have been added to the platform for schools, colleges and the education sector worldwide in partnership with Bloomsbury Publishing and ProQuest.

Michael John O'Neill's THIS IS PARADISE has won this year's Popcorn Writing Award. The story centres around Kate who watches the historic moment of the Good Friday Agreement unfold. She receives a phone call that forces her to face her past; her ex-lover, the river, the trauma - it all comes flooding back.

The first production to open The Pit, following its closure for over a year and a half due to the pandemic, is Poetry + Film / Hack – Rocks curated by Inua Ellams and Michelle Tiwo. The evening begins with a screening of the award-winning critically-acclaimed film Rocks, followed by readings of specially commissioned new work by outstanding Black female poets, including Barbican Young Poets alumni, who respond to the film's themes.

The only major award to celebrate new writing at the Edinburgh Fringe announces Please, Feel Free to Share by Rachel Causer; My Voice Was Heard But It Was Ignored by Nana-Kofi Kufuor; This is Paradise by Michael John O'Neill; and The Cracks by Siân Rowland as shortlisted finalists for the 2021 prize.

The Donmar Warehouse reopens in September, following a programme of essential works to replace key infrastructure within the venue, including the lift, plant, ventilation and air cooling. In addition, the works will significantly improve the accessibility of the Donmar through the installation of a street level ramp, automated front doors and more open and inclusive front of house spaces.

The National Theatre has today announced its programming until the start of next year with productions on all three South Bank stages as well as three major UK tours, two productions on Broadway, a return to cinemas, and a new feature film to be broadcast on television this autumn. In the week the theatre reopened for audiences again, six new productions were announced, and five productions halted by the pandemic were confirmed to return to the South Bank.  

Featuring a range of artforms and practitioners, the programme represents the culmination of months of planning and preparation. American Repertory Theater at Harvard University announced today May and June “destinations” in Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Lagos,  London, and New York City in its A.R.T. Travels program featuring one-of-a-kind experiences and conversations with theater-makers. 

Battersea Arts Centre today announced a partnership with the NHS to become the community Vaccination Centre for Wandsworth. From Monday 8 March 2021 residents from the borough will be welcomed into the Lavender Hill venue. They will receive vaccines, administered by trained NHS staff.

Birmingham Hippodrome have announced two new live streamed events which will put emerging talent from the city in the spotlight. The two events will be the first-ever to be streamed by Birmingham Hippodrome as part of the theatre's ongoing commitment to providing exposure and growth for young and emerging talent in Birmingham, the Midlands and beyond.
