Little Shadow Productions, in association with HERE, presents THE JOSHUA SHOW: EPISODE 2, written and performed by award-winning puppeteer Joshua Holden (Avenue Q National Tour), with live musical stylings by Jeb Colwell, and directed by Jessica Lazar.

Little Shadow Productions, in association with HERE, presents THE FLATIRON HEX, co-written and performed by James Godwin (Henson Alternative's Off-Broadway's Stuffed and Unstrung), co-written and directed by Tom Burnett (Uncle Jimmy's Dirty Basement).

At a celebratory opening ceremony for The Jim Henson Exhibition, housed in a new gallery at Museum of the Moving Image funded by The City of New York, the First Lady of New York City Chirlane McCray, the Museum's Executive Director Carl Goodman, Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen, and City Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer were joined by Jim Henson's daughter Cheryl Henson, and special appearances by Abby Cadabby, Red Fraggle, and Fozzie Bear, among other guests. This major new exhibition is dedicated to the life and legacy of Jim Henson, who was a singular creative figure in the realms of television, film, and puppetry-and a New Yorker who made the City his base for family and work. The Jim Henson Exhibition opens to the public on Saturday, July 22.

Over 50 productions of local and international artists will visit the stages of La MaMa during the 2017-2018 season. La MaMa's 56th season highlights artists of different generations, gender identities, and cultural backgrounds, who question social mores and confront stereotypes, corruption, bigotry, racism, and xenophobia in their work.

Rattlestick Playwrights Theater has announced the line-up for NEW SONGS NOW, an unplugged concert series, presented in association with New Neighborhood and Rosalind Productions, Inc. taking place Sunday, July 23 through Thursday, July 27 at 8:30pm at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater (224 Waverly Place New York, NY 10014).

Ibex, Inc,  announced today that the world premiere for CRANE: ON EARTH, IN SKY, created by Heather Henson and Ty DeFoe with direction by Maija Gracia,  will take place at the Lied Center for the Performing Arts in Lincoln, Nebraska (www.liedcenter.org)  on March 9th and 10th. This will be followed by an engagement at the Merryman Performing Arts Center in Kearney, Nebraska (www.merrymancenter.org)  on March 13th.  A national tour and possible return to New York City are planned. An earlier version of the show was performed as part of the La Mama Theatre Puppet Series.

The American Theatre Wing announced today that the 2017 Jonathan Larson Grants recipients are Ben Bonnema (book, music and lyrics), Maggie-Kate Coleman & Erato A. Kremmyda (music and lyrics), Ty Defoe & Tidtaya Sinutoke (book, music and lyrics), and Michael R. Jackson (book, music and lyrics).

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry and the UConn Puppet Arts Program will present the 2016 UConn Fall Puppet Slam on Today, September 17 at 8:00 p.m. in UConn's Studio Theatre. The UConn Fall Puppet Slam will feature short works by professional puppeteers and performers, including CactusHead Puppets, Lone Wolf Tribe, The Innie Outie Dance Theater Company, and Bryan Papciak as well as new works for puppet and object theater by students from UConn's School of Fine Arts. 

La MaMa begins its 55th season of innovative works from around the world - 70 productions in all - with its 2016 Puppet Series featuring a variety of fully-staged productions, a puppet slam, a workshop for kids and conversations with leading artists in the realm of puppetry from September 24 to November 6, occupying La MaMa's numerous stages in the East Village.

PA'I Foundation, in association with Kumu Kahua Theatre, presents a 3-day Playwriting Workshop for island writers, with Native American playwrights Larissa FastHorse and Ty Defoe. The workshop ? designed to serve writers of all levels, from novice to experienced ? will focus on jump-starting the writing process, exercises for the imagination, writing from your cultural perspective, and practical tips for completing and developing your work. Think of it as a crash course in getting started!

In honor of World Autism Awareness Day 2016, McCarter Theatre Center will present a special relaxed performance of Heather Henson's Sing Along with The Muppet Movie on Saturday, April 2nd at 2:00 p.m. on the Matthews Stage.
