From December 13-20 the Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC) presents a special Family Week, featuring free programming for families and children of all ages that includes special events and activities at each mainstage performance of The Tempest. Events include free performances of The Tiny Tempest for ages 5-10, plus behind the scenes discussions and demonstrations on stage effects, costumes and more. The Tempest, directed by Ethan McSweeny, plays at the Company's Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW) through January 11, 2015.

The Youth Symphony's annual 'Holiday Concert' welcomes Ol' Ludwig van himself (KCME's general manager George Preston) to Colorado with a potpourri of holiday music, including a few choice moments of his own classic compositions. All seven Youth Symphony ensembles will perform.

Beginning on Saturday, May 18, and continuing every Saturday through July 13, The Lyric Opera Broadcasts of the 2012/13 Lyric Opera of Chicago season will be rebroadcast internationally by The WFMT Radio Network and heard locally on 98.7WFMT. Lyric's 2012-13 season comprises nine operas plus the musical Oklahoma! Two of the shorter operas, Hansel and Gretel and Elektra, will be broadcast on a single date as a double bill.

OPERATHON 2012, Lyric Opera of Chicago's annual live-radio marathon fundraiser on 98.7WFMT, celebrated its 33rd anniversary by raising $482,465 during its 16-hour broadcast on Saturday, October 20, exceeding the $450,000 goal.
