HBO Documentary Films in association with Rise Films and Apatow Productions are currently in production on a two-part documentary about legendary comedian George Carlin, who headlined 14 stand-up comedy specials on HBO over the course of his career.

Cortland Repertory Theatre kicks off the 2020 Season at CRT Downtown, 24 Port Watson Street in Cortland with comic Brad Zimmerman in his new show My Rise to the Middle.  The performance, a benefit for CRT, will be held Friday, February 7 at 7:30PM; tickets are $20.00 in advance and $25.00 the day of.  Brad has been called a?oea unique and original voice in the world of comedya?? and promises a night of great laughs and hysterical stories.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces casting for Octavio Solis' Mother Road, a sequel to John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath. Mother Road premiered at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in 2019 and will run at Arena Stage from February 7 - March 8, 2020 in the iconic in-the-round Fichandler Stage.

Brad Zimmerman will bring his hit New York Comedy back to South Florida this season in his highly praised autobiographical comedy, My Son the Waiter:  A Jewish Tragedy.  Zimmerman's hilarious and poignant story is universal in its message:  The journey to follow one's dreama?? and the parents who SUFFER through it! The show will run from December 19th through January 12th in the Alan and Diane Lieberman Theater at the Michael-Ann Russell JCC in Aventura.  

In an effort to raise awareness around mental health HBO is introducing It's OK, an initiative that aims to destigmatize mental illness and encourage conversation around mental health issues. HBO will highlight a diversity of characters seen throughout the networks' series whose stories can help to normalize the conversation. The network has created Mental Health Awareness Bumpers and short form content to run on HBO's platforms beginning today in conjunction with World Mental Health Day.

Today SiriusXM and Netflix announced the launch of Netflix Is A Joke Radio, a full-time comedy channel to air exclusively on SiriusXM ch. 93. This is the first time the streaming company has worked in unison with another major subscription media company to create a new outlet for their content. The National Comedy Center and legendary producer, director, and writer Carl Reiner announced today, on Carl Reiner's 97th birthday, an initiative to digitally preserve Reiner's extensive personal collection of production-used scripts from "The Dick Van Dyke Show" - one of the most iconic, innovative, and beloved comedy series in television history.

The National Comedy Center was formally designated as the nation's official cultural institution dedicated to the art form of comedy on Tuesday, March 12. In a tremendous bi-partisan show of support, both the Senate and House of Representatives passed this bill in February, and the president signed it into law on Tuesday, recognizing the Center as the "Official National Comedy Center of the United States."
