The Second City scoured their address book to assemble a cast of seven luminary L.A.-based alumni for their hilarious take on the beloved Charles Dickens tale of hope and redemption. The world premiere of The Second City's "A Christmas Carol: Twist Your Dickens!" is written by Second City alums, Peter Gwinn (formerly of "The Colbert Report") and Bobby Mort (currently of "The Colbert Report"), and opens tonight, November 29, 2012, at Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre. Previews began November 24 and performances will run through December 30.

Ron West will join the cast to play the role of Ebenezer Scrooge. Joe Flaherty was originally announced in that role but needed to leave the production for personal reasons. There's a funny saying that's been going around for the past few years: 'It's funny... 'cause it's true!' While some aspects of this particular show have been exaggerated for (relatively) full comic effect, Second City's CAN YOU BE MORE PACIFIC? (now playing at The Laguna Playhouse thru April 11) hilariously skewers the over-the-top personality types that have become infamously synonymous with the citizenry of Orange County: wealthy, egostic, (predominantly) Republican, luxury-indulgent, overly nipped-and-tucked, and seemingly comfortable with life behind the so-called Orange Curtain.

To celebrate The Second City's 50th Anniversary, the legendary comedy theatre will host a weekend of performances, panel discussions and screenings at its intimate theatres on Wells Street and in The Piper's Alley Complex in Chicago on Friday, December 11th through Sunday, December 13th.
