The Drama League (Executive Artistic Director Gabriel Stelian-Shanks) has announced casting for DirectorFest 2019: The 35th Annual Directors Festival, the only festival in the United States exploring the art of contemporary stage directing. DirectorFest takes place at various locations around NYC: New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street), The Drama League Theater Center (32 Avenue of the Americas), LaGuardia Performing Arts Center (31-10 Thompson Avenue, Long Island City), and Joe's Pub (425 Lafayette Street). The Movement Theatre Company is proud to announce the extension of the New York Premiere production of WHAT TO SEND UP WHEN IT GOES DOWN by Aleshea Harris (Is God Is), directed by Whitney White (Macbeth in Stride). Originally scheduled to play its final performance on December 8,  2018, WHAT TO SEND UP WHEN IT GOES DOWN will now play an additional week through December 16, 2018.

Harlem9 presents the Obie Award Winning 48HOURS IN... HARLEM - a twist on the traditional 24-hour play festival. This event marks the 8th year of the collaborative Harlem9 bringing together 6 playwrights, 6 directors, and 18 actors.  Playwrights will re-imagine African Folktales into 10-minute plays over the course of one weekend.

THE IN[HEIR]ITANCE PROJECT and THE 14TH STREET Y are pleased to share with Broadway World a first look at THE JACOB PLAY, part of The Genesis Plays, a collection of plays inspired by stories in the book of Genesis, and devised with communities in different US cities. Created in a collaborative process led by Jon Adam Ross, and directed by Chantal Pavageaux, THE JACOB PLAY performs in rep (with four other plays) during a three-week limited engagement at The Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 E 14th St at 1st Ave, New York, NY 10003). Performances began Wednesday, May 2nd and continue through Friday, May 18, 2018.
