Maria Teresa Creasey's Degenerate is coming to Vault Festival Tuesday 24 January at 6.25pm, Wednesday 15 February at 6.25pm, and Sunday 19 February 2023 at 7.20pm. Degenerate is an experimental coming of age comedy from someone who has already come of age.

He traces the origin of his passion for music back to playing the drums in front of the TV at three-years-old. Eventually, he found his dad’s guitar. He embraced inspirations as diverse as Alice Coltrane, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and Elliott Smith as well as renown filmmaker David Lynch.

An eerie post-punk track that sees sharp spoken-word vocals, atmospheric guitar wobbles and reverb-drenched tremolo descend towards a catchy chorus that sees Truax bear his upbeat rock’n’roll teeth, “Everything’s Going to Be All Right” is taken from a new album ‘Dream Catching Songs.’

Though the band consists solely of Granfelt and Martel, the two make generous use of samples and guest spots, inviting some of their bandmates in the Seattle collective High Pulp to join them for tunes in addition to welcoming unplanned new collaborators like saxophonist Donny Sujack, who appears on several tracks.

NYC-based, New Zealand-bred rocker Miriam Clancy has released a second single from her upcoming album Black Heart, entitled “Head Like A Hole,” examining our digital codependency. Filmed by Winger Brothers, and edited by Miriam Clancy, the video for “Head Like A Hole” drew on inspiration from old Split Enz videos, Miriam's favourite.

The second annual Catalytic Sound Festival is a sprawling international affair, spanning 5 different weekends with versions taking place in Amsterdam, Vienna, New York, Chicago, Washington DC, and Trondheim.

Soho Rep has announced a one-week extension, to November 20, of its nearly-sold-out world premiere production of Montag, written by Kate Tarker (THUNDERBODIES at Soho Rep; Dionysus Was Such a Nice Man) and directed by Dustin Wills (Wolf Play, presented by Soho Rep & Ma-Yi Theater Company; Frontières Sans Frontières).

The 92nd Street Y, New York (92NY), one of New York's leading cultural venues, presents Sharon Isbin, guitar & Pacifica Quartet play Boccherini, Schwantner, and more, on November 12, 2022 at 7:30pm ET at the Kaufmann Concert Hall.

Boston film fans have ample reason to rejoice this November, as the area's two iconic art house cinemas—Cambridge's The Brattle Theatre and Brookline's Coolidge Corner Theatre—unveil a thrilling lineup of film noir in celebration of “Noirvember.”

O22, as Opera Philadelphia's festival was called this year, wasn’t exactly “something old, something new” but more like big fat sandwich cookie. On one side, there was a kind of “traditional” contemporary opera, Hosokawa’s THE RAVEN , a big filling of Rossini’s OTELLO opera seria in the middle, and finished with the Little-Waldman BLACK LODGE, a rock opera that was half ear-blasting concert performed live, half film.

Nathan Frizzell's Queer Radio Hour, the Halloween Edition plays for one-night-only October 12th at Dynasty Typewriter. Tom DeTrinis directs this old radio show spoof with a cast of Joe Conti, Drew Droege, Nathan Frizzell, Tommy Hobson, Mitch Silpa, Cloie Wyatt Taylor, David Tran, and drag legend Sherry Vine. I got the chance to toss out a few questions to Nathan in between his Zoom rehearsals.

Soho Rep will present Montag, written by Kate Tarker, directed by Dustin Wills and with original opera music by Daniel Schlosberg. The world premiere production of Montag runs October 12–November 13 at Soho Rep.

Aptly titled, the album sees CHRISTEENE leaving no soul unscathed with shrill, explosive saxophones, crushing guitars, and militant percussion backed by her affectionately named, and carefully curated, Fukkn Band. To celebrate the announcement, CHRISTEENE provided a sneak peak with the scuzzed out single “BEAUCOUP MOROCCO.”
