Three-Decade Survey Of Charles Gaines Opens At ICA Miami This November

A new survey of acclaimed artist Charles Gaines opens at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) this November, tracing the evolution of the second half of his influential practice. Charles Gaines: 1992–2023 brings together for the first time more than 65 works from 1992 to the present day including two monumental works, one of which the artist is recreating for the first time in nearly two decades. Curated by Gean Moreno, ICA Miami's Director of the Knight Foundation Art + Research Center, the exhibition is on view at ICA Miami from November 16, 2023, to April 30, 2024.

The Trust for Governors Island and the Friends of Governors Island has announced the launch of an eggs-ceptional event, the Governors Island Egg Hunt, a new springtime celebration to be held for the first time on April 8, 2023, from 10:oo a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Participants will scramble to find the 10,000 wooden painted eggs hidden in areas throughout the Island, with Island-specific prizes and giveaways for the most hard-boiled egg hunters.

ICA Miami Awards New Annual Sculpture Prize To Damián Ortega

The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) today announced the creation of a new sculpture prize, made possible with the support of the Ezratti family, whose $500,000 gift launches the annual initiative. The Ezratti Family Prize for Sculpture is awarded by ICA Miami to a living artist in recognition of her or his exceptional contributions in the area of sculpture and supports the creation of a new commission to be presented in the museum's Sculpture Garden, as well as an award of $15,000. Building on the museum's history of commissioning and presenting new works, the prize reflects ICA Miami's ongoing commitment to promoting experimentation in artistic practice and providing an international platform for influential voices in contemporary art.
