Just in time for the holiday season, everyone's favorite Peanuts holiday special comes to life in A Charlie Brown Christmas: Live on Stage. New Yorkers can celebrate the holiday season with the Peanuts gang in two holiday engagements.

Following this summer and fall’s “Rep Outdoors” Series, the Arkansas Repertory Theatre has announced a return to producing live theatrical, indoor performances in 2021/22.

“Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown,” the 1975 special produced and animated by the same team that gave us the now classic holiday specials and taken directly from the late cartoonist Charles M. Schulz's famed comic strip, will air with the classic “A Charlie Brown Valentine,” FRIDAY, FEB. 14 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EST), on ABC. (TV-G) (Rebroadcast. OAD: 2/10/09) 

According to the AP, producer Lee Mendelson has died at age 86. Mendelson is best known for bringing A Charlie Brown Christmas to television in 1965.

This holiday season, ABC once again airs the PEANUTS Christmas special “I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown,” produced and animated by the same team that gave us the other, now classic cartoon specials based on Charles M. Schulz's famed comic strip. “I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown” airs SUNDAY, DEC. 22 (7:00-8:00 p.m. EST), on ABC.

Just in time for the holiday season, the Peanuts gang have launched their tour across North America in A Charlie Brown Christmas Live On Stage. The tour kicked off in Billings, MT this past weekend. The hour will also include a series of Christmas-themed animated stories entitled “Charlie Brown's Christmas Tales,” based on Schulz's work, in which each of the beloved PEANUTS characters – Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus, Lucy and Sally – star in his or her own charming animated vignette. Schulz, based on the television special by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson, this stage adaptation by Eric Schaeffer is presented by special arrangement with Arthur Whitelaw and Ruby Persson, and will be directed by Resident Artist James McHale. A Charlie Brown Christmas will preview from December 6th through 8th; regular performances will begin December 12th and continue through December 29th on the Fyda-Mar Stage at Chance Theater @ Bette Aitken theater arts Center.

(TV-G) In the 1973 special, “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving,” created by late cartoonist Charles M. Schulz, Charlie Brown wants to do something special for the gang. However, the dinner he arranges is a disaster when the caterers, Snoopy and Woodstock, prepare toast and popcorn as the main dish. The only snow I want to see this year is the snow that transforms the stage at the Coterie Theatre into a winter wonderland at opening night of A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS. William J. Christie directs this hilarious stage adaption by Eric Schaeffer. Written by Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz the play is based on the 1965 television special by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson.

ABC is the home for unforgettable holiday programming as the network celebrates the joy of the season. In November, the network serves up a bounty of Thanksgiving-themed episodes and the classic animated special “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.” In December, ABC decks the halls with special Christmas and Hanukkah-themed episodes—the return of fan-favorite series “The Great Christmas Light Fight” and “The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition”; and an all-new holiday movie, “Same Time, Next Christmas,” starring Lea Michele. The Magik Theatre will present two blockbuster productions at the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre (226 N. St. Mary's St.) in the 2019-2020 season. A Charlie Brown Christmas will return for its fifth annual production, December 12 a?" 15, 2019, followed by the San Antonio premier of Ella Enchanted: The Musical, June 25 a?" July 5, 2020. Tickets are on sale now.
