Monica Bill Barnes & Company Headlines Emory Dance Program's 2012-2013 Season

New York-based choreographer and performer, Monica Bill Barnes has created 12 evening-length dance works, numerous site-specific events, and several cabaret numbers for her company. Monica Bill Barnes & Company is made up of powerful performers with the mission to celebrate individuality, humor, and the innate theatricality of everyday life. Beginning with an open rehearsal on Tuesday, September 11, Barnes will create a new work to be showcased at the Emory Dance Company Fall concert. Faculty member Anna Leo will rehearse and direct the work until performance in November.
Tami Stronach Returns to Dance New Amsterdam with ME AND NOT ME World Premiere, 9/19-22

Dance New Amsterdam (DNA) welcomes back Tami Stronach Dance to the 2012-2013 DNA PRESENTS season to present the world premiere of Me and Not Me, a duet which first debuted as a work in progress during DNA PRESENTS' OBject.obJECT series in 2009. The program also includes repertory favorite Mother Tongue, a solo danced by Stronach, and Closer, a piece currently in the making, which uses video cameras strapped to the dancers' bodies to provide the audience with alternative viewpoints. Performances are September 19-22. All shows are at 7:30 p.m.

FIRE ISLAND DANCE FESTIVAL returned to Fire Island Pines for its 18th awe-inspiring edition, raising a record-breaking $374,260 through three weekend performances. FIRE ISLAND DANCE FESTIVAL 18, the hottest charity event of the season in the Pines, was presented July 20-22 and was produced by and benefitted Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Humorist, actor and writer Mo Rocca will host Fire Island Dance Festival 18, landing on the shores of the Great South Bay this weekend - July 20-22, 2012. This year's festival, featuring 10 dancers, dance companies and choreographers is produced by and benefits Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
