OPERA America, the national service organization for opera, is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2016 National Opera Trustee Recognition Awards. Now in its ninth year, these awards honor outstanding trustees of U.S. opera companies for their exemplary leadership, generosity and audience-building efforts on behalf of their respective opera companies.

What does it mean that a jazz pianist from Kenner, La., just outside of New Orleans, is running one of the most visible musical platforms in the country?' Supporters of Sing for Hope (www.singforhope.org) will soon have a chance to find out. On Monday, October 26, at TriBeCa Rooftop, the New York City-based 'arts peace corps' organization will produce its ninth annual Sing for Hope Gala in support of its arts outreach programs for communities in need. Co-Chaired by Sing for Hope champions Renee Fleming, Ann Ziff, Margie Loeb, and Muhammad Yunus, with Vice-Chairs The Arnhold Family, the gala will feature Mr. Batiste in an intimate performance, along with some exciting surprise musical guests.

Orchestra of St. Luke's Hosts 40th Anniversary Gala

Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) raised $800,000 at its 40th Anniversary Gift of Music gala, held at The Plaza Hotel on April 20th. Funds raised at the gala benefit OSL's artistic and Community & Education programs, as well as The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, New York City's first and only space dedicated to classical music rehearsal, recording, and education.

International Opera Awards Winners Announced!

Met's Rush Tickets Program Announces Online Sales Only, 2014-15 Season

The Met's Rush Tickets program will move entirely online in its ninth season, 2014-15, allowing expanded, more democratic access to prime Met tickets for $25. As in past seasons, Rush Tickets will be available for every performance in the Met season, with the exception of the Opening Night and New Year's Eve galas; a total of 219 performances of 26 operas. Moving the Rush Tickets program online is part of the Met's continuing mission to further develop the opera audience by broadening access to the company's performances.

Tonight's program, which begins at 7:30 pm, is a thank-you performance for Lyric's more than 25,000 subscribers. The concert with the Lyric Opera Orchestra, conducted by Lyric Music Director Sir Andrew Davis includes selections by Verdi, Massenet, Gounod, and others.

The Metropolitan Opera and Le Poisson Rouge announced details for “Russian Exoticism: From Folk Music to Prince Igor,” a concert at Le Poisson Rouge on Wednesday, January 15 at 8 p.m. Soprano Anna Netrebko will join three stars of the Met's new production of Borodin's Prince Igor for the event—bass-baritone Ildar Abdrazakov, who sings the title role, mezzo-soprano Anita Rachvelishvili, and bass Štefan Kocán. The concert will include arias from Prince Igor and folk songs from the outer reaches of the Russian borders and beyond, as well as selections by other Russian composers also influenced by “exotic” music. Musicians will include pianist Natalia Katyukova, an assistant conductor at the Met.
