THE ROAD THEATRE COMPANY, Taylor Gilbert (Founding Artistic Director) and Sam Anderson (Artistic Director), remain committed to their meaningful mission to produce and develop New Work for the Stage. They are thrilled to announce in this, their 26th season, the Eighth annual SUMMER PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL (SPF8).

This year's festival will include a 50/50 parity of male and female playwrights and runs Sunday, July 3Oth through Sunday, August 6th at The Road on Lankershim, in the Historic Lankershim Arts Center in North Hollywood at 5108 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood  and at The Road on Magnolia at 10747 Magnolia Blvd, North Hollywood  at the NoHo Arts Colony! We will feature spotlights on all the playwrights of full length and one act plays over the next few weeks. This week the spotlight shines on Ann Hearn, author of the one act Requiem for Stuart*.

Bullying remains the number one problem among high school students in today's world. In Jordan Tannahill's Late Company he explores a Canadian family whose gay son committed suicide due to the influences of bullying at the Toronto school he attended. Currently onstage at Theatre 40, in its American premiere, Late Company boasts superb direction from Bruce Gray and a dynamic cast of 5 actors.

South Coast Repertory will open its 2009-2010 season with a celebration of the music of Broadway legend Stephen Sondheim and will shine the spotlight later in the season on the up-and-coming musical theater composer and lyricist, Adam Gwon. The season lineup includes World Premieres by Bathsheba Doran, Julie Marie Myatt and Howard Korder, and a West Coast Premiere by Noah Haidle.
