Babes With Blades Theatre Company (BWBTC) continues its 20th Anniversary Season: Origins with the Chicago premiere of The Good Fight, playing at City Lit Theater, 1020 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., January 6 February 17, 2018. Developed in 2011 through BWBTC's Fighting Words program under the title Deeds Not Words, the play is written by Anne Bertram, executive director of Theatre Unbound, a Minneapolis/St. Paul company devoted to work by and about women. Elizabeth Lovelady, a Jeff Award-winning artist based in Chicago, directs The Good Fight, which features combat by Violence Designer Gaby Labotka with Assistant Violence Designer Almanya Narula.

Redtwist Theatre presents the National New Play Network rolling world premiere Surely Goodness and Mercy by Chisa Hutchinson, Directed by Wardell Julius Clark. The show opens Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 3pm and runs Thu, Fri, Sat at 7:30pm; Sun at 3pm, through Sun, March 18

Jackalope will continue its 10th season with the world premiere of Franklinland, written by Lloyd Suh, directed by Chika Ike, with the full cast announced below.

In January, Company Member Brad DeFabo Akin returns to Steep to direct the world premiere of Calamity West's Hinter, which was commissioned by Steep Theatre.

Just in time to get you in the Halloween spirit, Akvavit Theatre presents GHOSTS & zombies, by Henrik Ibsen and Gustav Tegby, in a new American translation by Chad Eric Bergman*, directed by Co-Artistic Director Breahan Pautsch*. This dark and hilarious contemporary Swedish twist on Ibsen's Norwegian classic Ghosts plays now through October 29, 2017 at the new Strawdog Theatre Company, 1802 W. Berenice in Chicago. It's 1980 and an unknown congressman from Illinois, John Anderson, just might have a chance to be President of the United States. In the candidate's Boston campaign office, four idealistic young campaign workers struggle to spread the hope that their long-shot candidate might bring to the country and to their lives, while staving off that era's Unthinkable Presidency. 1980 (Or Why I'm Voting For John Anderson) pits youthful optimism against the status quo, in a world premiere comedy about class, race, and the politics of change.

Babes With Blades Theatre Company (BWBTC) proudly announces its 20th Anniversary Season, Origins, consisting of two full productions and three developing scripts, all reflecting how women define themselves and their places in their worlds - including 1940s Chicago, Edwardian London, medieval Scotland and the "final frontier." 

American Blues Theater, Chicago's second oldest Equity Ensemble, under the continued leadership of Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside, hosts 2017 Ripped: The Living Newspaper Festival on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.
