For auditions, please prepare 32 bars of a traditional Broadway style song. Be prepared to do a Jazz/Tap combination at the initial audition. Please bring a headshot, or recent photograph, and a resume. Auditions will be seen in the order in which you sign up, so please do not contact Riverside for an audition time.

The performance schedule is as follows:

Wednesday matinees at 1:30pm; Thursday through Saturday evenings at 8pm; Sunday matinees at 3pm.

(There may be additional matinees scheduled on other days of the week for White Christmas.)

White Christmas Character Breakdown

Bob Wallace - late 20's to mid 30's, a superb singer with a crooning style who moves well.

Phil Davis - late 20's to mid 30's, strong jazz and tap-dancing needed - a song-and-dance comic performer.
Betty Haynes - mid to late 20's, a female singer of quiet beauty and charm who must move well.
Judy Haynes - early 20's, strong jazz and tap-dancing needed - a major song-and-dance performer.
General Henry Waverly - late 50's to mid 60's, with the exception of one line, a non-singing role.
Martha Watson - late 40's to mid 60's, a winning, appealing character-comedienne
Susan Waverly - 9 years old, she must have an excellent belt voice and be able to move well.
Ralph Sheldrake - mid to late 30's
Rita - mid 20's to early 30's
Rhoda - mid 20's to early 30's
Ezekiel Foster - mid 40's to late 50's
Mike - mid 20's to late 30's

Gypsy Character Descriptions

Adults

Rose – Cast (looking for strong understudy/standby)

Louise – (mezzo-soprano, C# - E flat) 18+ - Strong actor who sings and moves well. Rose’s younger daughter, she has to have great depth as the character goes through large changes throughout the show.

June – (alto, A flat – D) 18+ - Strong actor and dancer who sings well. Rose’s older daughter who is pretty and talented with a strong will. She ends up leaving Mama Rose.

Herbie – (baritone) 40+ - Strong actor who sings. He is Rose’s agent who becomes romantically involved with her. A true gentleman.

Tulsa – (baritone; F - G) 18+ - Strong dancer (trained in tap and ballet). He is one of June’s chorus dancers. Very talented with “boy next door” charm.

Mazeppa – (alto-belt, G below middle C – B flat) 32+ - An experienced and wisecracking burlesque performer. Ability to play trumpet is a plus but not required.

Tessie Tura – (mezzo-belt, C# - D flat) 32+ - Flighty, seasoned burlesque performer. Ballet stripper

Electra – (mezzo-belt, B flat – D) 32+ - Experienced burlesque performer. Light bulb stripper.

Female Acting/Singing Ensemble – Ages 18-65 – 6 women to play cameo roles: Ms. Cratchitt, Agnes, Hollywood Blondes and mothers of auditioning children etc.

Male Acting/Singing Ensemble – Ages 18-65 – 6 men to play cameo roles: Uncle Jocko, Pop, Kringelein, and Mr. Goldstone and 3 adult Farm Boys who must be able to dance.

Children

Baby June – Age 7-10 – Cute, blonde (can be wigged), high energy performer with a fantastic belt who is a strong dancer (Gymnastic skills and baton twirling are a plus)

Baby Louise – Age 8-12 – Strong actor; awkward girl with hidden strength who lives in the shadow of her sister, Baby June. Brunette who is fairly tall and can sing well.

Newsboys – 4 boys who are 8-12 years old. All must sing and move well.
