2:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 21 - Callbacks

Readings from the script will take place at CST’s rehearsal hall and business office located at 806 W. Main, which is right next door to the theatre on the west side. Actors should bring a resume and an up-to-date photo. A headshot is preferred, but a good snapshot will suffice. Please be prepared to list any and all conflicts during the rehearsal and performance periods. In order to read on Saturday, do not arrive any later than 4:00 p.m.

Reading the script before auditions is strongly recommended! Perusal scripts are available for a $10 refundable deposit. We recommend that you bring a check so that we can return it to you, but of course, we will accept cash. Please call CST at 405-232-6500 or email csttix@coxinet.net to make arrangements to check out a script. Before dropping by, please call ahead to make sure a script is available and someone is in the office to check it out to you.

The CST office is closed on Mondays, and is open Tuesdays through Fridays 1-6 pm. Again, please call or email us, and we’ll make arrangements.

UNNECESSARY FARCE
a comedy by Paul Slade Smith
Directed by Rhonda Clark

Performance dates: Sep 6-7, 13-14, 19-22, 26-28.

Rehearsals begin August 5. Most rehearsals will be scheduled Mon-Fri at 7 p.m. with some possible weekend daytime rehearsals if it is necessary in order to accommodate cast conflicts.

Cast: 4 men, 3 women 20s-70s.

Eric Sheridan (30s) A bookish, even-keeled guy who is completely out of his element when trying to express feelings for a woman, lie to his boss, disguise himself, and stand up to a mobster while not wearing any pants!

Billie Dwyer (mid 20s-30s) A rookie police officer and Eric’s partner. Excitable and nonthreatening, she seems to lack every skill necessary for police work, but is as eager to succeed as she seems destined to fail.

Karen Brown (30s to early 40s) An accountant who takes pride in her professional demeanor, until this morning when she’s filled with a sexual hunger and is unable to keep in control. This character will at least partially undress and will be seen without her blouse.

Mayor Meekly (50s-70s) An innocent with a capital “i.” He’s an affable guy, not too quick on the up-take, and a sweet, sweet soul.

Agent Frank (20s-50s) The head of security at City Hall, and the wrong man for the job! He presents a confident, gruff exterior, but in a crisis, he’s frightened by his own shadow.

Todd (20s-50s) A professional hit man who speaks with a pronounced Scottish accent. He’s cool, quiet, and perceptive when at his best, but more frequently, he’s an angry Scotsman. The angrier he becomes, the thicker his accent gets, until he is entirely indecipherable.

Mary Meekly (50s-70s) The mayor’s wife who is small in stature and unfailingly sweet. She’s the perfect match for her husband.

Synopsis:
Playwright Smith sets the action in a cheap motel room where an embezzling mayor is supposed to meet with his female accountant, while in the adjoining room, two undercover cops wait to catch the meeting on videotape. Of course, confusion sets in as to who's in which room, who's being videotaped, who's taken the money, who's hired a hit man, and why the accountant keeps undressing. This fast-paced romp is full of mix-ups and mayhem, and it all adds up to loads of laughter!
