Garden Theatre Announces Auditions for The Wizard of Oz
Auditions for All Roles will be Held February 11-16 at the Garden Theatre

The Garden Theatre is pleased to announce auditions for its fourth self-produced spring musical, The Wizard of Oz, directed by Rob Anderson. Auditions will be held Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, February 11, 12, 13 and 16 at the Garden Theatre (160 West Plant Street in Winter Garden). This large production requires adults, teenagers, and multiple children (ages 7 and up). Children will be double-cast and have alternating performances. Several non-singing roles are also available. Most performers will be asked to sing and dance during the audition. All levels of experience are welcome to audition.

Performances of The Wizard of Oz in April are April 19 – May 26, 2013 on Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 2pm and 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm. For more audition information, visit

Audition Requirements - Children
• Each performer must be between the ages of 7 and 15.
• Each performer should be ready to perform either “My Country ‘Tis of Thee”, “Happy Birthday” (with the accompanist), or a 30 second song of choice (must provide sheet music)
• No a cappella singing allowed and no monologues required.
• Each performer should bring two headshots/résumés (if available).
• If cast in the show, children will perform in approximately ½ of the performances.
• Each performer should know their schedule availability for the rehearsal and performance period beginning early March through May 26, 2013.

Audition Requirements - Adults
• Each performer should be ready to perform 16 bars (approximately 30 seconds - 1 minute) of a song. Be prepared to sing the entire song if asked and please provide sheet music for accompanist. No mp3 players, CDs, or a cappella.
• Performers not singing should be ready to perform a monologue lasting approximately 1 minute.
• Each performer should be dressed ready to move as they may be asked to learn and perform a short piece of choreography.
• Each performer should bring two headshots/résumés.
• Each performer should know their schedule availability for the rehearsal and performance period beginning early March through May 26, 2013.

Set Construction Help Wanted
The Garden Theatre is also seeking volunteers to help with set construction for The Wizard of Oz. Construction will take place weekday evenings beginning mid- to late-January. Experience in painting, carpentry and set design is preferred, but not required. Schedules are flexible. The Wizard of Oz marks the fourth annual production by the Garden Theatre, in which professional and non-professional performers are blended into a cohesive cast, costumed with colorful clothes and showcased on a custom-crafted set that utilizes state-of-the-art lighting, sound and special effects.
