CHILD AUDITIONS:

Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 7:00pm (by appointment)

ADULT AUDITIONS:

Monday, November 7, 2016 at 7:30pm (by appointment)
Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at 7:30pm (by appointment)

All roles are open to audition. We are seeking an ensemble of adult performers (ages 16 and up) to play multiple roles. We are also seeking two children (age 6-14) to portray Tommy (age 4) and Tommy (age 10). Tommy (age 4) can be played by either a boy or girl. There are no other roles for children available.

Auditioners must bring sheet music with them and be prepared to sing 32 bars, but no more than one minute, of a fully memorized rock style song (not from The Who’s TOMMY) that showcases their vocal range and in a style that is consistent with the character you are auditioning for. This should be something that you are very comfortable with, not something you just learned the day before! It is important that you perform your song, not just stand and deliver. Auditioners should mark their selection with a highlighter. An accompanist will be provided. No a Capella singing or recorded accompaniment.

There is a lot of dance/movement in TOMMY and everyone will be required to do a movement audition which will be done in groups, so please wear something appropriate. Specialist dancers will be required for several numbers – these will come out of the ensemble.

ABOUT THE SHOW
A deaf, dumb and blind boy's journey from pain to triumph is a sensory-defying rock and roll experience.

Based on the iconic 1969 rock concept album, The Who's Tommy is an exhilarating story of hope, healing and the human spirit. The story of the pinball-playing, deaf, dumb and blind boy who triumphs over his adversities has inspired, amazed and puzzled audiences for more than 40 years. This five-time Tony Award-winning musical was translated to the stage by theatrical wizard, Des McAnuff, into a high-energy, one-of-a-kind theatrical event.

After witnessing the accidental murder of his mother's lover by his father, Tommy is traumatized into catatonia and, as the boy grows, he suffers abuse at the hands of his sadistic relatives and neighbors. As an adolescent, he's discovered to have an uncanny knack for playing pinball and, when his mother finally breaks through his catatonia, he becomes an international pinball superstar.
