SHOW DESCRIPTION (Time period: 1965):

At Oscar Madison’s usual poker night in his messy Upper West Side apartment, his poker buddies are concerned that their friend Felix Ungar has gone missing. He arrives, suicidal over his impending divorce, and accepts an offer to move in with his best friend Oscar. Felix drives Oscar crazy with his obsession over his soon-to-be ex and his chronic neatness. Oscar tries to get him out of his funk by arranging a double date with two wacky British neighbors, Cecily and Gwendolyn. When the plan backfires and Felix grows even more despondent, his friendship with Oscar is put to the test and ultimately teaches both friends about their effect on each other.

CAST BREAKDOWN:

• Oscar Madison: A slovenly, recently divorced sportswriter.
• Felix Ungar: A fastidious, hypochondriac television news-writer whose marriage is ending.
• Murray: An NYPD policeman, one of Oscar and Felix’s poker buddies.
• Speed: One of the poker buddies. Gruff and sarcastic, often picking on Vinnie and Murray.
• Vinnie: One of the poker buddies. Vinnie is mild-mannered and henpecked, making him an easy target for Speed’s verbal barbs.
• Roy: One of the poker buddies. Oscar’s accountant. Roy has a dry wit but is less acerbic than Speed.
• Cecily and Gwendolyn Pigeon: Oscar and Felix’s giggly upstairs neighbors, a pair of English sisters. The former is a divorcee, the latter is a widow.
