Job Description
The Lower Ossington Theatre is holding auditions for their upcoming production of the award-winning musical SPRING AWAKENING, which opens FEBRUARY 5th on the LOWER OSSINGTON THEATRE MAINSTAGE.

Director: Heather Braaten
Musical Director: Robert Wilkinson

Spring Awakening is a rock musical with music by Duncan Sheik and a book and lyrics by Steven Sater. It is based on the controversial German play Spring Awakening (1891) by Frank Wedekind. Set in late-19th century Germany, the musical tells the story of teenagers discovering the inner and outer tumult of sexuality. In the musical, alternative rock is employed as part of the folk-infused rock score.

Auditions: Friday November 14, Sunday November 16, Monday November 17
Callbacks: Friday November 21

Requirements:
All roles are being considered.
Seeking: 7 male and 6 female performers to play the teenage roles in the piece. We are looking for actors who are very strong vocalists with a clear sense of their range and limitations, applicants must also be strong dancers/movement theatre performers with interest in ensemble work.
For these roles please prepare two contrasting songs (musical theatre, rock or folk styles), 32 bars in length, with music properly marked, double-sided, and in a binder as an accompanist is provided. Please be prepared with two (2) monologues that are no longer than 1.5 minute in length (one contemporary, one classical).
Also Seeking: 1 male performer, and 1 female performer (age range 35 - 55)
These roles cover all of the “adult roles” in the piece. We are looking for versatile actors who are capable physical performers, and have musical sensibility. Please note*** these roles do not require for the performer to be a lead vocalist and we are very open to submissions from performers who would not consider themselves trained singers.
For these roles please prepare two contrasting monologues (one contemporary, one classical). As well, please prepare one song (musical theatre, rock, or folk in style). The song can be presented a capella, or can be accompanied by a pianist if sheet music is provided.
