NTPA REPERTORY AUDITIONS FOR

NTPA Repertory Theatre is proud to announce auditions are open effective November 8th, 2023 for the spring and summer productions of ALL SHOOK UP, THE PRODUCERS and ANASTASIA.

Actors shall be compensated with stipends ranging from $100 to $300, depending on the role to be paid at the conclusion of the performances. Actors will be expected to agree to the terms of the NTPA REPERTORY THEATRE ACTOR LETTER OF UNDERSTANDING and its Code of Conduct.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

Actors should prepare the following for their audition:

o Two contrasting 16 or 32 bar cuts and an optional 90 second monologue.

o Both Accompaniment tracks cued up to your pieces. No accompanist provided.

o Updated printed version resume of theatre and/or film work.

o Headshot and Resume attached to audition sheet provided at auditions with conflicts. Info sheet provided at auditions.

If selected for call backs you will be notified via email to attend callbacks after auditions no later than Sunday 12pm January 14th. If selected, we may send materials to prepare for call backs. Callbacks will include a dance call from 5:30-7:00 pm. You may be asked to participate in one, both or neither. There will be one section of tap, one section of musical theater dance.

5:30-6:15pm, general dance call.

6:15-7:00pm tap call.

· Call Backs: Tuesday January 16th 5:30-10pm, you will be notified via email for a callback and dance call. Two styles of dance: Tap and Musical Theater styles.

Character Breakdown:

NATALIE HALLER – A young woman and an excellent mechanic. She’s much more at home in greasy overalls than in a dress.

CHAD – A great-lookin’, motorcyclin’, guitar-playin’, leather-jacketed roustabout.

JIM HALLER – Natalie’s widowed father. Middle-aged and messy, he still longs for his wife.

SYLVIA – The no-nonsense, African-American owner of SYLVIA’S HONKY-TONK.

LORRAINE – Sylvia’s teenage daughter. Pretty, smart and a total romantic.

DENNIS – An awkward young man. He aspires to be a dentist.

MISS SANDRA – The beautiful, intellectual caretaker of the town’s museum.

MAYOR MATILDA HYDE – The town’s very conservative mayor.

DEAN HYDE – Matilda’s teenage son. He has spent his youth at military boarding schools, and he has never disobeyed his mother.

SHERIFF EARL – The law in town and a man of not many words. He loyally follows the Mayor wherever she goes.

HENRIETTA – A townsperson, one of NATALIE’S friends.

MALE & FEMALE ENSEMBLE play an assortment of TOWNSPEOPLE.

Character Breakdown:

Max Bialystock

The consummate con man. Naturally animated and bombastic, he is never at a loss for charm and manners. Typically conspires with Leo.

Age: 40 to 55

Leo Bloom

An accountant. Boring and mousy, he is a hesitant optimist who longs for something more. Dragged into a scheme by Max.

Franz Liebkind

German loyalist playwright. From his lederhosen to his pigeon, Adolph, his love for the motherland is unmistakable. He is imposing yet tender.

Rogers Debris

New York's most famous and flamboyant stage director. Surrounds himself with deliciously beautiful clothing, people, and possessions. In a crowd, it would be impossible to miss him.

Carmen Ghia

Roger Debris' faithful assistant. Carmen is severe in looks and passion for Roger. He may appear younger than he actually is thanks to skilled surgeons.

Ulla Inga Hansen Benson Yonsen Tallen-hallen Svaden-svanson

A young and hopeful actress. Though her beauty might eclipse her talent, Ulla is passionate about life and art. Quite a clueless seductress in some ways.

NTPA Repertory Theatre Casting Expectations & Guidelines

This is a list of principles NTPA Repertory Theatre will adhere to in regards to all auditioning and casting activities. This includes all Producers, Directors, Assistant Directors, Stage Managers, Choreographers, Musical Directors, or other personnel involved in the production.

1. NTPA Repertory Theatre casts from open auditions. First consideration for roles will be given to those who choose to audition for the show.

2. In the event that NTPA producers elect to pre-cast a role, notice will be given BEFORE the audition.

3. NTPA Repertory Theatre will always cast those they feel will best suit the role and production.

4. NTPA Repertory Theatre will never allow favoritism to be shown at an audition. Every audition will begin from a level playing field.

5. NTPA Repertory Theatre will always strive to make the audition process open and polite. Every auditor will be shown appreciation for their willingness to audition.

6. NTPA Repertory Theatre will always present a prepared audition process. Actor’s time will always be a consideration.

7. NTPA Repertory Theatre will strive to provide timely notification throughout the casting process for callbacks.

8. NTPA Repertory Theatre reserves all casting determinations and NTPA casting decisions should be considered final.
