Brief Synopsis:
It's 1942, and two of Hollywood's biggest divas have descended upon the luxurious Palm Beach Royale Hotel with assistants, luggage…and legendary feud in tow. Even with members of the Navy diving out of the fourth floor windows into the swimming pool and running maneuvers in the lobby, everything seems to be in order for their wartime benefit performance. That is, until they are somehow assigned to the same suite. Mistaken identities, overblown egos, double entendres, and a lap dog named Mr. Boodles round out this riotous love note to the classic farces of the 30s and 40s.

Roles: 4 men, 5 women

Bernard Dunlap – 40+ male, General Manager of the Palm Beach Royale Hotel & Spa. He JUST wants everything at his hotel to run smoothly and doesn’t handle it well when it doesn’t.

Claudia McFadden – 30+ female, America’s Beloved Matron of Song. Larger than life, she moves into every room like an elegantly dressed tornado, punctuated with an exclamation point.

Athena Sinclair – 30+ female, a great star of stage and screen. Beautiful, stylish, and every inch the diva. A former screen siren, she is Hollywood Royalty and everything that goes with it.

Murphy Stephens – 20s female, Athena’s personal secretary and former fiancée of Francis. At one time, she, too, wanted to be a big star but settled for being secretary to a big star.

Mr. Pippit – 30-50 male, Claudia’s personal secretary. He’s pretty much resigned to the fact that his lot in life is to be yelled at. Compared to his employer, Pippet is a tiny man.

Dora Del Rio – 30+ female, a gossip columnist. She’s the type who can SMELL a juicy story and will try just about anything to get it. Must be good at physical comedy.

Mrs. Everett P. Osgood – 40+ female, a society matron and President of the Palm Beach Ladies for Unity. A bit daft, she sees the War Effort as equivalent to one of her cotillions.

Francis – 20s to early 30s male, a bellhop and former fiancé of Murphy. He quit show business to join the army. They wouldn’t take him so he’s been hiding out in Palm Beach.

Otis – 20s to 40s, male, another bellhop. Otis tends to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. To that end, he must have excellent physical agility and comedic timing.

If auditioning for Claudia, Athena, or Mrs. Osgood, please come prepared to sing a torch song, ideally from the 1930s or 40s. You can bring a CD for your accompaniment or sing a capella.
