Lakewood Theatre Company will be having open auditions for high school actors for two live stream productions: the play Scenes From Metamorphoses and the musical, Haunted. Both productions will be directed by Demetri Pavlatos.
These productions will be auditioned, rehearsed, and performed entirely over Zoom, with no one asked to meet in person. The two shows do not conflict with each other, so actors may audition for both if they choose. Audition dates: SATURDAY, APRIL 3 and MONDAY, APRIL 5, 2021. Please go to the Lakewood website to secure an online audition time slot and requirements for each production. Callbacks, if needed, will be Tuesday, April 6 and/or Wednesday April 7, 2021 at 7:00 pm.
Audition Location: All auditions are online via zoom. You will be sent a zoom link to attend audition after you have signed up for an audition time slot.
About the Productions
Scenes From Metamorphoses will include five of the scenes from Metamorphoses, by Mary Zimmerman.
In what’s considered her signature theatrical piece, once hailed as “the theater event of the year” (Time), Tony Award-winning director and playwright Mary Zimmerman juxtaposes the ancient and the contemporary in a ravishing theatricalization of Roman poet Ovid’s powerful masterwork, Metamorphoses. An ensemble of actors embodies figures from Greek mythology to share both well-known and rarely told stories of transformation. Metamorphoses debuted on Broadway in 2002 and earned Zimmerman a Tony Award for Best Director. Zimmerman uses the play as a poetic bridge between myth and modernism by creating a hybrid of ancient Greek and modern American cultures.
Scenes from Metamorphoses requires a cast of nine – five women and four men who are versatile and can play multiple roles. Go to the Lakewood website for the character breakdown.

Haunted, the new musical by Allen Robertson and Damon Brown is darker than their usual fare, but there’s light at the end. This production is about two siblings and a peculiar band of outsiders. Like any good ghost story, this brand new show is packed with suspense, humor, surprises, and heart. The siblings with their group of young people, encounter ghosts and witches, and also conquer emotional demons living within them.
This musical requires a cast of thirteen – seven women and six men. Go to the Lakewood website for the character breakdown and vocal ranges.
