ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR
RIPCORD

When: 2:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 - Readings from the script. Plan to arrive no later than 4:00 p.m.;
2:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16 – Callbacks.
Where: At the theatre’s rehearsal studio and office, located at 806 W. Main. Parking is free on the street, at Dagwell Dixie next door, and in nearby parking lots.
What: Please bring a recent photo and résumé.

Call or contact Melinda before dropping by to make sure a script is available and someone is in the office to check it out to you.
Office Hours: Closed Mondays. Open Tuesdays through Fridays 1-6:00 pm.
Performance dates: September 8-30, 2017 (Sep 8-9, 15-16, 21-24, 28-30 with brush-up rehearsal on Sep 14)
Rehearsals begin: Approximately July 31. Most rehearsals are scheduled Mon-Fri at 7 p.m. with Saturday or Sunday rehearsals scheduled only if needed to accommodate week-night conflicts. 1st tech is the afternoon of Sunday, September 3.
CAST: 3 Men (aged 20s-40s and 30s-40s); 3 Women (2 aged 60s-80s, one 30s-40s) Three actors play multiple roles.
ABBY BINDER (60s-80s) a resident of Bristol Place Senior Living Facility who is used to living alone, although she does not pay for a private room. “Crabby Abby” is brittle and seemingly tough as nails. She is determined to restore her privacy, whatever it takes.
MARILYN DUNNE (60s-80s) A new resident at Bristol Place and Abby’s unwanted roommate. If Abby is a dark cloud, Marilyn is the bright sun – very cheerful and friendly. And very clever...
SCOTTY (20s-40s-) An aide at Bristol Place who is also an actor. He’s affable and very patient with the residents, although Abby tests his patience repeatedly. He sells tickets to the ladies for the haunted house that he and his theatre friends are staging.
BENJAMIN/LEWIS/CLOWN (30s-40s) Benjamin is Abby’s estranged son who has been clean and sober for 2 years/Lewis is Marilyn’s oldest son and a jump instructor for Sky High Adventures, the family business/Clown is a character at the haunted house.
COLLEEN/WOMAN IN WHITE (30s-40s) Marilyn’s daughter who is also a very upbeat person/A character at the haunted house.
DEREK/ZOMBIE BUTLER/MASKED MAN (30s-40s) Colleen’s husband and Marilyn’s son-in-law/A character at the haunted house/A thief in the park who tries to steal Abby’s iPad, and turns out to be Derek playing a trick on Abby for his mother-in-law.
Synopsis:
Hilarity trumps sensibility in this new comedy where The Odd Couple meets The Golden Girls! When two polar opposite ladies wind up in the same living quarters, get ready to watch ’em squirm, fight, and practically kill each other. You see, a sunny room with a view is prime real estate in the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility, so when crabby Abby is forced to share her quarters with new-arrival Marilyn, she must get rid of the infuriatingly chipper woman by any means necessary. A seemingly harmless bet between the seniors quickly escalates into a dangerous game of one-upmanship that reveals not just their tenacity, but deeper personal truths that each would like to stay hidden.
CST has produced most of the works by playwright David Lindsay-Abaire. Though he won numerous accolades for GOOD PEOPLE and the Pulitzer Prize for RABBIT HOLE, Lindsay-Abaire returns to his earlier style that’s more overtly comic, outrageous, whimsical, and a little vicious. Besides the two plays already mentioned, you may be familiar with the comic turns of FUDDY MEERS, KIMBERLY AKIMBO, and WONDER OF THE WORLD.
