One-Act Play Festival

Auditions Tuesday, June 12 at 7:00 PM – Eastbound Theatre in Milford


Westport Community Theatre and Eastbound Theatre, a division of the Milford Fine Arts Council, are holding auditions for their fourth annual jointly-produced festival of one-act plays –
Summer 2012: XII
. Auditions will be held at the Milford Center for the Arts, 40 Railroad Place in Milford on Sunday, June 10 and Tuesday, June 12 at 7 PM. The five-play program will be presented as matinee performances during the New England Arts & Crafts Festival in Milford on July 7 and 8, and then will be presented the following weekend in evening performances at Westport Community Theatre, July 13 and 14.
13 roles are available, 6 male and 7 female; ages range from twenties to fifties. Actors will read from the scripts.
How About Cannons? (2m) follows the brothers Tchiakovsky as they plan an epic performance of the 1812 Overture. The play was written by David Vazdauskas of Brunswick, ME.
Janet’s Cookie (1m, 2f) reveals a therapy session where Janet is disturbed by a persistent, recurring Internet advertisement, which somehow has followed her into real life. The play was written by Mila Golubov of New York, NY.
Leap Year (3f) eavesdrops on three sisters who have all forgotten their mother’s birthday. As they await the dreaded phone call, they turn on each other and find odd ways to avoid the ringing phone. The play was written by Brett Hursey of Farmville, VA.
One, Three, Two (1m, 1f) introduces a troubled young man who questions his sanity when he suddenly forgets every numerical code or password sequence he needs to function in contemporary society. The play was written by Michael Weems of Houston, TX.
Twelfth Day in Paris (2m, 1f) finds a disavowed former spy holding a couple hostage to determine which one is responsible for his disgrace. The play was written by Maximillian Gill of New York, NY.
Directors for the festival will be Dean Kyburz, Richard Mancini, Kevin McNair and Michael Shavel of Stratford, and Robert Watts of Milford.
