Hershey Area Playhouse Announces Auditions for Oliver!
Hershey Area Playhouse announces auditions for its upcoming production of the musical interpretation of the Charles Dickens’ classic, Oliver!
Auditions for children will be held May 3 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Auditions for adults will be held on May 4 and May 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Callbacks, if needed, will be held on May 6, beginning at 7 p.m. Note: Adults who are unable to audition on a weekday evening may audition on May 3.
All auditions will be held at the Playhouse, located at the corner of Sand Hill Road and Cherry Drive, Hershey. Those auditioning are asked to bring a prepared monologue (young children may improvise, if they do not come with a prepared monologue) and 32 bars of a song that demonstrates musicality and vocal range. Please bring either sheet music or a CD of instrumental accompaniment.
There will also be a short dance combination taught to determine movement and dance abilities. Those auditioning for Oliver and the Artful Dodger must be able to dance and move very well. For those auditioning for all other orphans and main adult characters, no dance training is necessary; however, those individuals should be able to move and pick up choreography quickly.
The show is being directed by theatre veteran Cory Wilkerson, musically directed by David Deitz and Keith Wiley, choreographed by Kelly Strange, and produced by Matt and Tracey Ford. Performances will be held July 16-19 and July 23-26 at the Playhouse.
