AUDITIONS: Of Mice and Men & Gypsy
Tacoma Little Theatre is holding auditions for its upcoming productions of OF MICE AND MEN, directed by Niclas Olson, and GYPSY, directed by Chris Serface.
Auditions will be held Sunday, November 6th and Monday, November 7th at Tacoma Little Theatre. Audition appointments will be set between the times of 6:00pm-9:00pm on Sunday and 7:00pm-10:00pm on Monday. Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, November 9th. You may audition for one or both shows.
For OF MICE AND MEN please prepare a monologue 1-2 minutes in length. Roles are available for 9 men and 1 woman, and all ethnicities are welcome to audition.
Two traveling companions, George and Lennie, wander the country during the Depression, dreaming of a better life for themselves. Then, just as heaven is within their grasp, it is inevitably yanked away. The script follows Steinbeck's novel closely, exploring questions of strength, weakness, usefulness, reality and utopia, bringing Steinbeck's California to life.
For GYPSY please prepare a monologue 1-2 minutes in length, and one song form the Golden Era of Broadway. An accompanist will be provided. Roles are available for men, women, and children, and all ethnicities are welcome to audition.
A crowning achievement in American musical theatre, Gypsy tells the story of Mama Rose, the ultimate stage mother, and her hopes and dreams for her daughters, June and Louise. As the lights of Vaudeville are dimming, Louise steps into the spotlight as Gypsy Rose Lee and rises to become one of the most famed burlesque performers of all time. Just like Mama Rose, Gypsy is brassy, bold, and sexy.
