Macbeth - Pearl Theater

Audition requirements: Cold reading from the script. No monologue required.
Rehearsals will be: Monday-Thursdays and a few Saturdays. First read through on Monday, July 6th, 7pm

We are looking for a diverse cast of various ages.Shakespeare experience not necessary. My goal for this production is to create a spooky, thrilling, and exciting play to introduce the Bard to Pearland audiences.I am a firm believer in ensemble, and I am looking for actors who are ensemble driven. Many actors will play several roles and be involved in atmospheric scenes... Please read below for character breakdown. All ethnicities welcome and ENCOURAGED!. Please be familiar with the play. Sides will be available at the theater.
CAST BREAKDOWN:
(There will be 13-20 in the cast; please note that many actors may be cast in several roles)
Speaking Roles:
6-9 Adult and teen males ( 15-70 ),
4 Adult Females ( 25-60 ),
3 Female Children ( 9-11)
4 Male/Female Children (age 10+)
Character Breakdown
MACBETH: Male (40s – 50'S)
Ambitious and haunted warrior and thane. Usurper to King Duncan's throne
LADY MACBETH: Female ( 30s – 40s)
Grieving mother who summons dark forces to scheme and goad her husband on for the throne.
THREE WITCHES: Female Children ( 10-12 years old )
Young scavengers in a time of war. Haunters of Macbeth, reminders of the children he cannot have. Tricksters.
BANQUO: Male ( 30's-40's )
Captain and best friend to Macbeth. Fights and is killed. Returns as a ghost.
ROSS: Adult Male or Female (20's-30's)
Loyal Thane of Scotland. Ally to Macbeth. Reporter of events
ANGUS: Adult Male or Female (20+)
Young Thane of Scotland; likeable; a bit political.
DUNCAN: Adult Male (50's-60s)
Kindly King of Scotland.
MALCOLM: Adult Male (16-25)
Son of Duncan and heir to the Scottish throne. Young, calculating, naive
MACDUFF: Adult Male (35-50)
A man of few words. Fierce and heartfelt. Kills Macbeth
LADY MACDUFF: Adult Male or Female (any age)
Strong willed, brave, a pragmatist. Is killed by Macbeth's henchmen
HECATE: Adult Female (Late 20's to 60's)
Supernatural leader of the witches..Evil, larger than life..Manipulative
3-4 CHILDREN: Ages 9 – 12
We need a boy for Fleance, Banquo's son, and Two or three Lady Macduff children. Please note we are looking for mature children who would not be upset and/or overzealous in scenes involving violence and murder. All staging will be handled with care and professionalism. Please be familiar with the play.
4-6 ADULT ENSEMBLE ROLES (Likely to be double cast): An injured captain, A drunken porter, three murderers, soldiers, apparitions, a doctor and a gentlewoman.
