For auditions, please prepare 32 bars of a song in the style of the show. There will be an accompanist at the audition. Please bring dance attire and be prepared to dance. Please bring a headshot, or recent photograph, and a resume. If you are unable to attend auditions, video submissions are encouraged (with headshot, resume, and video links) via email to companymanager@riversidedt.com.

MY FAIR LADY CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
Eliza Doolittle (18 – 35) Cockney flower girl from Lison Grove working outside Covent Garden. High spirited, gutsy and proud. Very strong actress as well as singer. She becomes the object of a bet between Higgins and Pickering. Legit Soprano. Comfortable with cockney dialect.
Henry Higgins (40 – 65) British, upper class professional bachelor and world class phonetics expert, teacher and author. Conceited, refined and out of touch with his feelings. Very strong actor comfortable with British dialect. Baritone.
Alfred P. Doolittle (40 – 70) Classic character man. Eliza’s father who is fun loving, wise cracking and proud. He is quite a drinker and love’s the ladies. Strong actor who sings well. Baritone
Colonel Hugh Pickering (40 – 70) Retired British officer with colonial experience. Amiable linguist and friend of Higgins who is a real gentleman. Strong actor comfortable with British dialect. Baritone
Freddy Eynsford Hill (20 – 30) Spineless upper class young man who becomes completely smitten with Eliza. Comfortable with British dialect. Legit Tenor.
Mrs. Higgins (60+) Professor Higgins mother. She is self-assured, wealthy, classy and elegant. She loves her son but also recognizes that he needs someone to put him down a bit. Comfortable with British dialect. Non- Singing role.
Mrs. Pearce (40 – 60) Professor Higgins housekeeper. She is no-nonsense and motherly. She has affection for Eliza. Comfortable with British dialect. Mezzo-soprano.
Harry (20 – 50) Drinking companion of Doolittle. Comfortable with cockney dialect. Baritone
Jamie (20 – 50) Drinking companion of Doolittle. Comfortable with cockney dialect. Tenor
Cockney Quartet (20-50) 4 strong singer, actors who move very well. Featured in “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly”
Ensemble (20s – 50s) Female and male ensemble who are strong singer, dancer, actors to play various members of high and low society, butlers and maids, the elite at the Ascot Races and patrons of the drunken pubs. All vocal types. Comfortable with cockney and British dialects.
