Theatre Tulsa Seeking the Perfect ‘Bruce’ for ‘Matilda The Musical’

Theatre Tulsa is conducting a search across Green Country to find the best young actor to play the role of “Bruce” in its upcoming production of “Matilda The Musical.”

“We are seeking a small actor with a big voice,” said Jarrod Kopp, executive director of Theatre Tulsa.

Theatre Tulsa is seeking a male actor who fits the following requirements: between the ages of 8-12, no taller than 5'2, and with an unchanged voice.

“The role of Bruce is a lot of fun, but it requires a young actor with a high voice who can sing with a lot of heart and soul,” added Theatre Tulsa Artistic Director Sara Phoenix.

To audition, young actors are encouraged to record a video of themselves singing the opening and closing sections of “Revolting Children” from the soundtrack of “Matilda The Musical.” The video file or link should be sent to
info@theatretulsa.org for review. The Deadline for submissions is Friday, June 4.

Rehearsals for “Matilda The Musical” will begin June 14. Performances will be Aug 13-29 at The Tulsa Performing Arts Center.

Rehearsals will be held Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 6:30-9:30pm, and some Saturdays through the summer.
