Imago Theatre is seeking two actors, one female, one male to play in Imago’s adaptation of “Beauty and The Beast” to rehearse and open in the following periods:
Originally written in the 1700's by Madame de Villeneuve, “La Belle et la Bête” has influenced many prominent filmmakers, including Jean Cocteau, and numerous theater and dance creators. The original novel, which is over 100 pages, is rich with allegory and symbolism. Imago intends to return to the original text to bring to our audiences an imaginative and fantastical retelling of the classic. Recent adaptations ( Cocteau and Disney) omit an incredible back story of fairies which Imago will reincorporate. Imago brings audiences a different experience of the fairy tale by combing media, puppetry, movement, song all within the confines of ship's engine room.
