SYNOPSIS:

It is 2366, and Data the android is presenting his campy musical adaptation of The Wrath of Khan. In this sci-fi send up, an older Captain Kirk is experiencing a “coming of middle age” story when his nemesis Khan escapes exile and vows revenge. The ensuing cat-and-mouse game sparks an adventure that includes Vulcan tap dancing, Kirk’s long-lost son (a walking Shatner impression), and of course, mutant space chickens! Production Rating: “PG-13” for brief strong language and adult themes

CAST BREAKDOWN:

KIRK, 30-65 (to play 50). BARITENOR (UP TO G)

Lead role, male. Actors of any gender with the vocal range listed are encouraged to apply! Ethnicity: Any. Once a heroic captain, now he's an older, insecure shell of his former self. A bit of a faded diva. He's also kind of a douchebag, but just loveable enough that the audience can get behind him and enjoy watching him get his groove back. Should sound like William Shatner, but not too exaggerated. Actors of any gender with the vocal range listed are encouraged to apply! All sizes and body types invited to apply.

Compensation: $1200

DATA, 20-40 (to play 30). TENOR OR BARITENOR.

Lead role, male. Actors of any gender with the vocal range listed are encouraged to apply! Ethnicity: Any. An android trying to act like a human. Actor must be good at accents and dialects. When speaking as himself, he is calm, unemotional, and curious. His voice is not robotic, it sounds like Brent Spiner's portrayal of Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation. However, his acting his hammy and cartoonish when playing other roles within his own show. All sizes and body types invited to apply.

ADDITIONAL ROLE: Peter Preston, over-the-top cockney cadet; like a cloying teenage Tiny Tim.

ADDITIONAL ROLE: David, son of James T. Kirk, speaks in an exaggerated William Shatner voice.

ADDITIONAL ROLE: Joachim, the villain's sniveling sidekick.

COMPENSATION: $1200

KHAN, 30-65 (to play 55). TENOR (UP TO A).

Lead role, male. Actors of any gender with the vocal range listed are encouraged to apply! Ethnicity: Any. This is not the Khan from The Wrath of Khan. Here, he’s campy, scenery-chewing, and has fun with the audience. He feels just as much like a cartoon supervillain as the sassy host of a drag cabaret. He maintains just enough of a sense of menace to preserve the stakes of the story. His accent may be British, an exaggerated impression of Ricardo Montalban, or anything in between. All sizes and body types invited to apply.

Compensation: $1000

UHURA/CAROL, 25-60 (to play 45). ALTO, MEZZO, OR SOPRANO.

Principal role, female. Ethnicity: Black/African descent, mixed ethnicity, Indian/South Asian. Actors of any gender with the vocal range listed are encouraged to apply! All sizes and body types invited to apply.

This track has multiple roles:

UHURA: She's dignified and professional when serving as the Enterprise's communications officer, but she doesn't always keep her sardonic wit to herself. Sometimes she'll mutter a sarcastic comment under her breath.

CAROL: As the head of a major interplanetary science initiative, she has to be a tough leader. But when she's around her former boyfriend (Captain Kirk) she can be more girlish and flirty.

Compensation: $900

SULU/CHEKOV, 25-60 (to play 45). BARITONE OR BARITENOR.

Principal role, male. Asian or Pacific Islander. Actor should be good at accents and dialects. Actors of any gender with the vocal range listed are encouraged to apply! All sizes and body types invited to apply.

This track has multiple roles:

SULU: Serious and professional when on duty, but occasionally catty and playful behind the scenes. Should ideally sound like George Takei.

CHEKOV: Acts tough, but is a scaredy-cat at heart. Speaks in a high voice with a cartoonish Russian accent; an exaggeration of Walter Koenig's original portrayal of the Star Trek character Chekov.

Compensation: $900

SPOCK/TERRELL, 30-65 (to play 55). BARITONE OR BASS.

Supporting role, male. Must have basic proficiency in tap dancing. Ethnicity: Any. Actors of any gender with the vocal range listed are encouraged to apply! All sizes and body types invited to apply.

This track contains multiple roles:

SPOCK: He is an outwardly emotionless half-human/half-alien with a touch of haughtiness, but his warmth and concern for others can be seen in subtle ways. He speaks with crisp, deliberate diction. A competent tap dancer.

TERRELL: Despite being a starship captain, he's a bit dopey and slow on the uptake.

Compensation: $1000

SCOTTY/BONES, 30-70 (to play 60). ALTO, MEZZO, OR SOPRANO

Principal role, male (note: the characters are male, actors of any gender with the vocal range listed are encouraged to apply). Ethnicity: Any. All sizes and body types invited to apply. Actor should be good at accents and dialects.

This track has multiple roles:

BONES: The ship's doctor, a crotchety, gruff older man with a subtle old south accent.

SCOTTY: A sweet older man with a slightly creepy fetish for the starship Enterprise. Mild Scottish accent, not too thick to understand.

Compensation: $900
