HOUSTON FAMILY ARTS CENTER ANNOUNCES 2016 AUDITIONS

HFAC Holds Open Auditions for three shows in the 2015-2016 Season

Houston Family Arts Center (HFAC) announces OPEN Auditions for the final three shows in their 2015-2016 season including The Foreigner, Damn Yankees, and Amadeus. Auditions are Saturday, December 5th with callbacks, if necessary, on Sunday, December 6th by invitation only.

Open audition appointments should be made at
http://bit.ly/HFACauditions.

Open auditions and casting will be for all parts in all shows.

It is possible that a show is entirely cast from this open audition. However, any roles NOT cast during this open audition will be cast during the regular show auditions prior to the first rehearsal date. If you miss this audition, watch for audition announcements four to six weeks prior to the first rehearsal dates on the audition portion of our website. If you are not cast from this open audition or are not ready to accept a role at this time, you can always audition again.

The shows being auditioned for are:

  1. The Foreigner, a comedy by Larry Shue which runs March 11 – April 3, 2016. If necessary, production auditions will be in early January and rehearsals will begin mid-January.

  1. Damn Yankees is a musical by Richard Adler, Jerry Ross, George Abbott and Douglas Wallop and runs April 22 – May 15, 2016. Production auditions are early February and rehearsals will begin shortly after auditions. Auditions will include a dance audition to determine your dancing skill level.

  1. Amadeus is full of envy, scandal, comedy and murder as composer Antonio Salieri's tries to destroy the brilliantly talented Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and runs June 3 – 26, 2016. Production auditions will be late March and rehearsals will begin shortly after auditions.

Auditions are open to the community and all parts may be cast with actors of any ethnicity. We’re looking for all ages and types of actors and singer/actors. For a listing of each show’s roles and characters, please visit

  • Sunday, December 6th from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Note: Not all roles will be called back, but possibly cast from the open auditions on December 5th. Additionally, instead of a call back or casting on Sunday, December 6th, you may be given an invitation to by-pass regular production auditions for any upcoming shows and invited to call-backs at a later date.

How to Audition

Full details, audition forms and registration link available at
http://bit.ly/HFACauditions.

You are asked to list any rehearsal conflict dates on the audition form. Possible examples of conflict listings, include “cannot rehearse on Thursdays due to conflict,” “out of town during performance date” or “will be late every Monday rehearsal—arrive at 8 p.m.”

Additionally, we will always try to schedule rehearsals around major holidays. For example, there will be no rehearsal New Year’s weekend, Easter, etc. We can normally accommodate up to four rehearsal conflicts and exceptions to this are rare. Please be candid: unscheduled absences from rehearsals can and do result in actors being replaced.

Unable To Attend This Open Audition?

We will accept video auditions. Please follow the format shown below and submit one Vimeo or YouTube audition link, as well as a completed audition form, bio and photo to
oraclemontgo@gmail.com. Audition forms are available at
