Metamorphosis: a new living theatre is holding:

AUDITIONS FOR “Dutchman”

Open auditions for "Dutchman" a critically acclaimed play by Leroi Jones AKA Amiri Baraka, will be held on Monday, February 6 from 3pm-6pm and Wednesday, February 8 from 5pm-8pm. The auditions will be held at:

The Sammons Center for the Arts
Historic Turtle Creek Pump Station

Dallas, TX 75219

Lula, a lascivious white woman tries every vulgar way she knows to pick up and seduce a seemingly decent black youth, Clay, in a NY subway car. Failing, she resorts to humiliating him. This breaks the facade of his decency, as he descends to her level for a spitfire fight and decrees that murder of the whites by the blacks "would make us all sane."

There are roles for one black man (age early 20’s) and one white women (age late 20's through early 30’s). Auditions will be cold readings from the script.

Rehearsals will run May 8 to June 8.
Actors are paid a $750 stipend.
The show will run from June 9 through June 11.

ROLES:

1) LULA: Late 20s-early 30s; white; fearless, flirtatious, sweet, and spicy.
2) CLAY: A young, middle-class black man; a college-trained intellectual from New Jersey; he wears a three-button Ivy League suit and tie.
