TART Announces Audition Dates for

Spring Musical: Damn Yankees

The Tarrant Actors Regional Theatre today announced auditions for its spring musical and the closing production of its sixth season: Damn Yankees, written by Douglass Wallop and George Abbott, with music and lyrics by Jerry Ross and Richard Adler.

Auditions will be held Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 9-10, from 2 to 5 p.m. both days at Arts Fifth Avenue, 1628 Fifth Avenue, Fort Worth TX 76104.

In this classic American story, middle-aged baseball fanatic Joe Boyd trades his soul to the Devil, also known as Mr. Applegate, for a chance to lead his favorite team to victory in the pennant race against the New York Yankees. As young baseball sensation Joe Hardy, he transforms the hapless Washington Senators into a winning team, only to realize the true worth of the life he left behind. Light, fast-paced, and devilishly clever, this seven Tony Award-winning musical features songs like “Heart,” “Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, Mo.,” “A Little Brains—A Little Talent,” and “Whatever Lola Wants.”

Auditions for Damn Yankees will be by appointment, and may be scheduled by visiting the “Auditions” page of the TART website at
www.thetart.org/Auditions.html. Following auditions, those selected for callbacks will be notified by phone or email.

Auditioners should prepare 16-32 bars of a song in the style of the show, and should bring sheet music in their key. An accompanist will be provided. Please do not bring pre-recorded music or backup tracks. In addition, auditioners may be asked to do a short cold reading from the script. A current headshot and resume is requested at the time of audition. Please come dressed for movement.

Principal roles are available for eight men and five women, along with ensemble roles. Rehearsals will begin in late March, and usually are held Mondays through Thursdays from 6 p.m. until 9 or 10 p.m., depending on the availability of the rehearsal space. The show runs May 10-26 in the Sanders Theatre at the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, 1300 Gendy Street, Fort Worth TX 76107.
