AUDITIONS FOR CATCH ME IF YOU CAN AT CANDLELIGHT THEATRE

The Candlelight Theatre, located in historic Ardentown, Delaware (30 minutes from Center City, Philadelphia) is seeking non-union performers for its upcoming production of Catch Me If You Can, directed and choreographed by Dann Dunn. Catch Me If You Can runs September 14 – October 20, 2019. Catch Me If You Can is a musical with a book by Terrence McNally and score by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

All roles are open and all positions paid. Performers may also have a chance to work in the restaurant during the run of the show to supplement their income.

Auditions for Catch Me If You Can will be held Monday, May 6 and Sunday, May 12, 2019 at The Candlelight Theatre in Wilmington, Delaware and Monday, May 13, 2019 at The Rock School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. No appointments.

Please prepare 16 – 32 bars in the style of the show that best shows off your range. Please come with headshot and resume stapled together; do not send in advance. Please be sure to bring a change of clothes that shows your body type and shoes (men: flats; ladies: heels) in case you are asked to stay and dance.

Catch Me If You Can rehearsals will begin mid- to late-July. Performances are September 14 – October 20, 2019: generally Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Also scheduled: one Thursday evening, October 10; and two Wednesday matinees, September 18 and October 16.

Casting Breakdown:

FRANK ABAGNALE, JR.: Our story’s conniving protagonist, he is a handsome and youthful con artist. Grew up learning to disappear into another skin to avoid his problems. He eventually falls in love with Brenda and desperately tries to change his ways. (Age: 20-30 / C5-G2)

CARL HANRATTY: An FBI agent leading the investigation and search for Frank Jr. A knowledgeable and habitual workaholic who idolizes the moment he catches his perp. Lives a private life of loneliness and depression. (Age 30s-50s / G4-G2)

FRANK ABAGNALE, SR.: Frank Jr.’s father. He is an inspiration when it comes to swindling. Upbeat and fast-talking, he undergoes a series of progressive failures that leaves him a miserable drunk. (Age: 45-65 / G#4-F2)

PAULA ABAGNALE: Frank Jr.’s gorgeous mother. She met Frank Sr. in France, during the war, but has fallen out of love. Caring and loving, with an underlying resentment toward her husband and son. (Age: 45-60 / C5-A3)

BRENDA STRONG: A young nurse and Frank Jr.’s eventual love interest. Hard-working and initially insecure, she meets Frank Jr. after running away from a wedding. Comes to trust him, but his true identity clouds her feelings. (Age: 20-30 / A5-G3)

CAROL STRONG: Brenda’s traditional mother. She is talkative and boisterous. (Age: 45-60 / A5-Bb3)

ROGER STRONG: Brenda’s conservative southern father. He is stern and interrogatory, but reveals himself to be deeply romantic. (Age: 50-60 / A4-A2)

BILL COD: A seasoned FBI agent in the fraud division. A regular guy punching a time clock. No special passion about his work. All ethnicities. (Age: 25-45)

TOD BRANTON: FBI agent in the fraud division. A smart-ass. All ethnicities. (Age: 25-45)

JOHNNY DOLLAR: A rookie FBI agent in the fraud division. Fresh out of college and new on the job. All ethnicities. (Age: 21-25)

ENSEMBLE: Energetic, sexy, and athletic, variety show singer/dancer/actors that play featured roles of commuters; assistants; stewardesses (Mindy, Cindy, Lindy, Jane, Kellie, Shellie); pilots; agents; targets; party-goers; doctors; nurses; interns; and Cheryl Ann. Tap a plus. Excellent dancers and singers. (Age: 18+)
