Six couples, a bed and one unforgettable night.

A middle aged couple earns extra cash in a somewhat unconventional manner. A woman visits a dying man. Two thieves steal more than they bargained for. An aging rock star is confronted by a fan. An exotic dancer rationalizes the challenges of her employment. A radio announcer must choose between his occupation and his troubled marriage.

Audition Information

Audition format will be a cold read. You do not need to prepare a monologue. You do not need to submit resumes or headshots.

Although there is no nudity, some actors may be required to appear on stage in intimate or revealing clothing (e.g. night wear, under-garments or exotic dancer attire). Actors may be required to share a bed with a member of the opposite sex in clothing as described above.

The NAGs Players is a non-professional theatre company. If you are cast in the show, you will be required to become member. The annual membership fee is $15.00 and is payable at the first rehearsal (read through).

Characters

There are 15 characters in Bedtime Stories. Most roles will be double cast. Age ranges are flexible to reflect the relationships between the characters.

Eddie Nichols (male 30-40)
Ambitious late night radio host. Chose his career over his relationship and recently divorced from Laura Nichols.

Lou Ballantyne (male 50-60)
Down-to-earth, hard-working, blue-collar, family man. Adores his wife Betsy.

Betsy Ballantyne (female 50-60)
Lou's wife. Betsy is everyone's friend and confidante. Loving housewife. Lou and Betsy have won a radio contest for $5000 to have sex live on the radio.

Derek Baumgarden (male 30-45)
Derek is on his death bed. He is the emotionally injured high school admirer of Susan Upchurch and still carries a torch for her.

Susan Upchurch (female 30-45)
Susan is married to Steve Upchurch and feels her marriage is on the rocks. She knows she hurt Derek in high school and has come to ask his forgiveness before it is too late.

Nick (male 30-60)
Experienced burglar. His girlfriend Sandy is an exotic dancer. He's rough and focused on the job.

Davey (male 25-35)
First time burglar (accountant by day). Eager, chatty, and scattered.

Tommy Quick (male 40-50)
Shock-rock star. Underneath the make-up and wig is an aging man with a wife, kids, and a body that is falling apart.

Melody Ballantyne (late teens - early twenties)
Tommy Quick fan. A wildish young girl who sneaks into Tommy's hotel room in search of sex with her idol.

Charlie (male 30-45)
Strip club owner who needs to fire an exotic dancer.

Sandy (female 30-60)
Nick's girlfriend. An accident-prone exotic dancer who loves her job and isn't too bright.

Laura Nichols (female 30-45)
Eddie's ex-wife. A divorcee with lots of marriage advice for men.

Steve Upchurch (male 30-45)
A mover. Susan's husband. An ex hockey player. He is unsure why his marriage to Susan is in trouble.

Jerry Ballantyne (male 35-50)
Lou's brother. A mover with a bad back. He wants to get the job done..

Yolanda (female 30-60)
Sandy's sister. A cab driver with a bad sense of direction. Yolanda is even less bright than her sister, Sandy.
