Performance Dates: June 18-20, 2021 Friday and Saturday at 7pm Sunday at 2pm and 5pm. Performers must be available for all performances and two tech rehearsals on Wed. June 16 and Thu June 17.
Audition Requirements: You may submit a solo video - or a duet or trio if you wish. Submissions can either be a sample of your best work, or a suggested performance following the premise of the show. Please be advised, however, that each person in the video will be considered both individually and as a group, and if cast, you may be asked to perform a different piece from what you’ve presented for your audition. Since the premise is “Backwards Broadway,” please choose an audition piece from the musical theatre canon. The show will put an emphasis on songs that can tell a short story. Safe duets, trios, or groups are encouraged. Dancing, choreography and thinking outside the box are also encouraged. The Conejo Players is an all-volunteer community theatre, there is no pay.
Plot Summary: “Backwards Broadway” at the Conejo Players is a gender-bending celebration of the Broadway musical that challenges traditional onstage gender norms. This will be a family-friendly and socially distant drive-in concert. Watch from the safety of your car and enjoy the sound over your FM radio.
