The Sherman Playhouse Holds Casting Call for
Lanford Wilson’s
Book of Days
July 15 and 16, 2013
The Sherman Playhouse is seeking a cast of 7 men and 5 women (ages 25 to 65) forLanford Wilson’s award-winning and thought-provoking drama, BOOK OF DAYS.
When a prominent small-town figure and business owner is mysteriously killed while hunting, the citizenry ofDublin, Missouri accept it as an accident. All except Ruth, his bookkeeper and close friend, who suspects foul play. Through note-perfect language a community reexamines a shared experience by painstakingly reliving agonizing memories. Each character, remarkable for both their comic turns and for their enormous depth, struggles with their past choices and actions that ultimately led to the death. As the play unfolds, the people of Dublin relive and analyze their inadequacies and learn the impact of murder on their town and on themselves.
“We have five women’s roles and seven men’s roles and every one is a richly rewarding character to play,” said director Sara Pannacio of New Milford. “BOOK OF DAYS combines mystery and murder with unexpected comedy and unique staging…it’s considered by many to be his best work since The Fifth of July.”
BOOK OF DAYS was honored with the American Theater Critics Association’s Best Play Award for 1999.
Auditions will be held at The Sherman Playhouse, 5 Route 39 North (next to the firehouse) on Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 16 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Rehearsals begin in July, with performances running September 13 through October 5.
