Kentwood Players announces open auditions for

BLITHE SPIRIT

At the Westchester Playhouse

Kentwood Players will hold open auditions for BLITHE SPIRIT, by Noel Coward on Saturday, May 18 from 11:30am to 4:00pm and Sunday, May 19 from 6:30 to 10:00pm. Callbacks will be held on Monday, May 20 at 7:00 by appointment only. This is a non-equity, non-paid production directed by Gail Bernardi and produced by Susan Goldman Weisbarth for Kentwood Players with rights secured from Samuel French.

Performance dates are July 19 through August 24, 2019 on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. Auditions and performances take place at the Westchester Playhouse, located at 8301 Hindry Avenue in Westchester, CA 90045.

BLITHE SPIRIT was a smash comedy hit on the London and Broadway stages. This hilarious farce is about fussy cantankerous novelist, Charles Condomine who has remarried but is literally haunted by the ghost of his first wife, Elvira. Elvira has been called up by a visiting kooky medium, Madame Arcati. and laugh a minute pandemonium ensues

Those auditioning should read the play before auditioning to become familiar with the characters. Please allow time to sign-in and complete paperwork during scheduled audition times. Please bring a current headshot and resume as well as your calendar as a rehearsal schedule will be posted at auditions and you will be asked to note any conflicts. To meet the BLITHE SPIRIT production team and learn more about Kentwood Players, the public is invited to attend our general membership meetings, which are free and held on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 pm at the Westchester Playhouse located two blocks west of the San Diego Freeway and two blocks north of Manchester at 8301 Hindry Avenue in Westchester, CA 90045.

Character Breakdown

Kentwood Players practices color blind casting; all ethnicities are encouraged to audition and will be considered for every part.

Charles Condimine (36-45) A sophisticated and urbane novelist who is dabbling in spiritualism to use it as a subject for a book.

Ruth Condomine (35-40) Charles's second wife. Ruth is witty and sophisticated but also a bit stuffy and predictable.

Elvira (25 -35) The ghost of Charles's first wife. She is spirited, outgoing, wild and jealous of Ruth.

Madame Arcati (45-65) Pretty much known as the local eccentric, she considers herself a spiritualist and a medium.

Dr. George Brandman (55-65) A good friend of the Condomines who is invited to dinner and a seance, Skeptical of anything to do with the occult.

Violet Brandman (50-55) Simple and naive, she is excited about being in the presence of a medium.

Edith (20-40) - The Condomines new maid. She is nervous and tears around at breakneck speed trying to do things right.
