Kevin Garcia Doyle and runs November 5 – November 22, 2020.?Both the auditions and performances for this production will be held on Zoom. ? Lee Cataluna takes advantage of the unique platform of “live, digital theatre” with this tribute to 1980s Hawai‘i, framed by the clothes we wore.
Your invitation to the 80s includes the vaguely defined dresscode: ?aloha attire What does that even mean? In this play, written specifically for online production, we will examine classic aloha attire pieces like the shorty-mu‘u, dressy slippers, gold-dipped maile leaf pendants, and the 17 ways to wrap a pareu. Let your fashion consultant take you through stories of what we wore, what it meant, and why it was so awesome. Director R. Kevin Garcia Doyle is looking for actors to fill the following roles:
Destinee “Des”– early 20s, the narrator, present day Ala – girl, Kini’s friend, we see her as a 4th grader and then middle-schooler Kini – sister of Kaipo and Theresa, we see her as a 4th grader and then middle-schooler Kaipo – middle child between Kini and Theresa, high school, quick-witted, self-assured Alika – high school junior, nice guy but kind of thick Kawika – high school junior, Alika’s half-brother, slightly a jerk Theresa – high school junior Grandma –not a very old grandma. She’s probably late 50s and athletic. Billy – Grandma’s son, 20s, gum-chewing, thinks-he’s-cool, creepy Also Voice of Priest All actors should be familiar with the story.
