34TH ANNUAL RIBBON OF LIFE HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR - The Legends in Concert Theater at The Tropicana Las Vegas

How the world has changed since our last Ribbon of Life in 2019. While I am grateful to see
some degree of normalcy return, I know many of us were impacted in immeasurable ways over
the past two years.
I am pleased to report that Golden Rainbow did not close through the pandemic, not once. They
kept their doors open, masks on and addressed the increased need for assistance in our valley.
They were able to accomplish this through, hard work, federal assistance and generous
donations. Donations earned, in no small part, due to you.
For over 35 years you, and performers like you, have made Golden Rainbow’s work possible.
Golden Rainbow annually asks members of the Las Vegas entertainment community to give of
their time and talent in order to assist men, women, and children living in Clark County whose
lives are affected by HIV/AIDS. In the heart of the AIDS epidemic, after the death of one of their
own, the Las Vegas entertainment community worked together to create a one-of-a-kind
entertainment experience, the show we now know as Ribbon of Life. Sadly, more cast members,
colleagues, friends and family would lose their life to HIV/AIDS, but through every evolution of
the disease, the best of this community has managed to return year after year with a production
somehow magically better than the last.
On Sunday, December 4th, 2022, Ribbon of Life will return to the Tropicana Hotel’s Legends in
Concert Theater. We are humbly asking that you offer your support again.
The 2022 show: Golden Rainbow presents “The 34th Annual Ribbon of Life – Holiday
Spectacular” will focus on reimaging the holidays as only the talent of Las Vegas can. Can a
holiday classic be given new life? Is there contemporary music that inspires kindness, love or the
spirit the holidays should invoke?
This production could impact the face of Las Vegas holiday entertainment for years to come - so
go big or go home! (Please don’t go home – we need you!). This is a bold undertaking. We will
endeavor to remind our community that joy persists while also celebrating of the beauty and
resiliency of the Las Vegas entertainment community.

Once again, we are fortunate enough to partner with the Tropicana for our production and avail
ourselves of their amazing video screen. Ribbon of Life has historically presented musical
favorites in new ways and this year is no exception. While we are all eager to enjoy live
performances again, should you wish to submit a number entirely as video, or a hybrid, please do
so.
We will also include our “Text to Vote” to recognize the audiences’ top three performance picks.
Imagine the thrill of creating the most spectacular spectacle in the Holiday Spectacular!!!
Enclosed is a copy of the current guidelines and a submission form. If you are interested in
submitting a proposal for inclusion in this year's show, please read the guidelines carefully and
complete the enclosed submission form. Return the form and all requested materials by the
requested date.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us through
Directors@goldenrainbow.org. We thank you in advance for your support.

The goal of this year’s event is to get creativity to thrive and allow audiences to hear and experience the
holiday season in new and exciting ways, whether bringing a classic to life with your own amazing twist or
finding music that captures the spirit and message of the season. Think of vibrant visuals that brings the music
to life or creative choices that allow us to experience this music as if for the first time.
Feel free to submit multiple numbers. However, only one number can be chosen. There will of course be
ballads, but we are looking for numbers that will energize and excite our audience
The show will be 80-90 minutes long.
In order to plan your number, please adhere to the time limits
• Solo, duet, small cast (under 10 performers) = 3 minutes
• Large cast or montages = 5 minutes
• Exceptions to be approved by the directors
*These times include dialogue and scenic changes.
Anyone and/or any group can submit a number for consideration. There is no limit to the number of
submissions from any single show, cast, or individual. (Please note we may ask vocalists to join dancers or
vice versa)

Music – The plan is to, once again, provide a live band. Please provide standard sheet music and audio of your
selection. Please work with Andy at Directors@GoldenRainbow.org to coordinate with the Musical
Director. Tracks and video music will also be considered. If the final track is poor quality, the number cannot
be included in the show. Your submission CD, however, may be a rough edit version of the original
artist.
Video – These past few years have allowed many artists to become quite proficient in filming. For creators
wishing to use film for their performance medium, we re accepting a limited number of filmed performances to
be incorporated and played during the show. Video as a supplemental element to a live performance is also
welcomed.
Microphones - Please list your maximum requirements for featured performers. We request that large vocal
choruses be recorded to the Master CD for playback. Microphone assignments will be made during the
technical rehearsals.
Sets - There will be most likely one set look for the show. We will provide a stage layout to you to help with
your blocking needs when the design is final. You are welcome to supplement stage pieces as long as you can
manage the transitions. A Video Wall is available, format given upon request, all final looks are included at
the discretion of the Production team.
Lights - Please detail your lighting requirements. We are limited on intricate lighting designs due to time
constraints. We will work with each choreographer to create the final cues during the tech process; however, a
complete description of your needs will assist us in expediting the process. Please have these at your blocking
rehearsal for our lighting designer.
