Brief Synopsis:
Four sets of golfers make their way around the eighteen greens of the Brazoria Bend golf course in Southeast Texas. A father who must tell his young son that his wife is leaving him, a golden years couple constantly bickering over the winning power of a pink golf ball, two slackers in hot pursuit of the beer girl, and a collection of ladies from the Sunset Society (an organization of women who wear orange hats). Guided through the evening by Lyle, the course greenskeeper, and filled with both comedy and drama, this is a true slice of life that everyone can relate to. Winner of the 2007 Rocky Mountain Theatre Association Best Play Award.

Roles: 7 men, 6 women, 1 boy
Lyle - (40+, male) The Groundskeeper, who has worked at Brazoria Bend Golf Course since he took a summer job there as a kid. Our guide and de facto Narrator.

Doug - (30-45, male) Arty’s father, teaching his son to play golf while trying to find a way to tell him that his wife - Arty’s mom - is leaving them.

Hal - (30-45, male) Doug’s friend, who acts as moral support.

Arty - (7-11, boy) Doug’s energetic son. He doesn’t care if he’s playing ‘right’, so long as he’s having fun.

Ivan - (18-25, male) A thoughtful, polite young man prone to short bursts of temper and still pining for his old ex, Ivanna.

Nate - (18-25, male) Ivan’s sex obsessed best friend. A typical frat boy type, he assumes all Ivan needs to get over a broken heart is a pretty girl.

Triona - (18-25, female) “So gorgeous it’s almost obscene.” A Scottish girl who came to the US to make her fortune. Now broke, with an expired visa to boot, she’s trying to make things work to avoid disappointing her sick father back home.

Norma -(55+, female) Learned to play golf because her husband enjoys it, and now that they’ve retired, they need something to fill the hours. They’re the quintessential old married couple.

Erwin - (55+, male) Frustrated by his wife’s new golf technique, preferring to play how he’s always done it. He’s stuck in his ways - and vocal about it - but still loves his wife very much.

Geraldine - (60+, female) The matriarch of the family. A hard woman, sometimes even cruel to her daughters and granddaughter, but all she really wants is to bring her family back together. A proud member of the Sunset Society.

Hattie - (40-50, female) Geraldine’s eldest daughter and Sydney’s mother, Hattie obeys her mother in all things and struggles to connect with her daughter.

Yvonne - (35-45, female) Hattie’s younger sister, and the black sheep of the family. She accepts the abuse her mother and sister heap on her and tries to support her niece, choosing to remain close to her family because they’re all she has, no matter how they treat her.

Sydney - (21, female) Hattie’s headstrong daughter. She wants to go to school to study fashion, and to get away from her mother and grandmother’s strict way of doing things and live her own life.

Paris - (20-25, male) The caddie assigned to the Sunset Society ladies. Like the other golf course employees, he’s seen many people play out their lives on this course.
