The Mousetrap began as a radio play, titled Three Blind Mice, and was written at the request of the BBC for Queen Mary. Christie then expanded Three Blind Mice from a twenty minute radio play into a full length stage play, adding some extra characters and a fuller background and plot. The title was changed and The Mousetrap was created.

Before it opened, Agatha Christie gave the rights to The Mousetrap to her nine year old grandson, Mathew Prichard, without any idea that it would become a huge record breaking phenomenon. The Mousetrap opened on 25th November 1952, produced by Peter Saunders. Richard Attenborough and his fellow film star and beloved wife Sheila Sim played the leading roles as Detective Sergeant Trotter and Mollie Ralston. The late Deryck Guyler provided the pre-recorded voice of the newsreader in the first act and the same recording is still used today. In 1994 Sir Stephen Waley-Cohen became the producer of The Mousetrap.

Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap is the world’s longest-running play. This thrilling West End production – which has become as much of a London icon as Big Ben or Buckingham Palace – is THE genre-defining murder mystery from the best-selling novelist of all time… case closed!

As news spreads of a murder in London, a group of seven strangers find themselves snowed in at a stately countryside guesthouse. When a police sergeant arrives, the guests discover – to their horror – that a killer is in their midst! One by one, the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts. Which one is the murderer? Who will be their next victim? Can you solve the mystery before another “mouse” goes SNAP?

For almost 70 years, Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap has kept millions of people from every corner of the globe on the edge of their seats. Have youdunnit?
