Centaur Theatre's WILDSIDE FESTIVAL Returns For Its 22nd Year

For her first turn at bat curating Montreal's "hottest 2 weeks of winter", Eda Holmes hits a home run with an A-list of trailblazing, quick-fix theatre, from zoological spoken word to Greek tragedy object puppetry and everything in between. See the full schedule below.

Johanna Nutter's Production Company, creature/creature presents the Offside Festival, with an eclectic collection of some of Montreal's wildest musical beasts performing in Centaur's Gallery after the last show on these select nights: Jan. 10, 12, 17, 18, and 19. Saturday nights are reserved for local rockers and thespians to gather and pay tribute to pioneering giants in the music world. This year's deserving choices are Kate Bush (Jan. 12) and Patti Smith (Jan. 19).

A first this year, Centaur Theatre's 2019 opening production, True Crime, featuring Torquil Campbell, frontman of the indie band Stars , will run concurrently with the Wildside Festival, a perfectly suited counterpart to the festival's independent spirit. Wildside Festival ticket-buyers can take advantage of $30 tickets to see True Crime with the presentation of any Wildside 2019 ticket stub at Centaur's box office.

An action-packed physical comedy set across 3 different "crime periods": the set of a 1950's film noir, a 1970 heist flick, and a 1990 buddy cop movie.

Close encounters with lions, hyenas and elephants conjure the feral forces that lurk within us. A transcendent and funky creation by an unforgettable artist at the height of her powers.

Blood, sex, ambition...eggs. This textless adaptation plunges audiences into a visceral vision of Shakespeare's Macbeth, using only two actors, a countless number of paper objects, lots of blood, and no words.

Household objects perform a 10th century tale of martyrdom by history's first recorded female playwright. A playfully surreal retelling featuring lurid onstage violence between objects and food.

Three women unravel their girlhoods in a dream-like and nostalgic narrative. The Gentle Art Of Punishment is for anyone who has ever had a crush on their therapist - or thinks that Drew Barrymore is under-appreciated in her dramatic roles.
